Zachary’s Gender Neutral Owl Nursery

Description

We didn't find out the gender of  our baby, so I wanted to do something gender neutral, but colorful and fun.

Design Inspiration

I came across pictures of other nurseries painted in Benjamin Moore's Robin's Nest and knew I wanted that to be the wall color.  From there it was a matter of finding coordinating fabrics that pulled in additional colors.

Decorating Style

Young traditional.

Project Details

The walls are BM Robin's Nest.  I sewed the curtains, bed skirt, bunting and chair covers, all of which are Premier Print Fabrics. My mother made the quilt and owl fitted sheet.  The prints above the crib are found here http://www.etsy.com/shop/Lulliloola?ref=seller_info.  I bought the letters above the bookcases at Hobby Lobby and spray painted yellow.  The bookcases are from Land of Nod and the owl lamp is from Target.  The crib, changing table and glider were all hand-me-down items from family members.

Favorite Items

I really love the way the yellow chevron curtains turned out.  I lined them with black-out lining, which is great for nap time.

Advice

Do it yourself!  One of a kind is so much more fun than  buying a bag of bedding from a store.

MrsMathisJr,

Thanks!

The curtain rod is from Home Depot. It was the only white wood rod I could find!

I love the room...especially the curtain and glider fabric.

Where did you find your white curtain rod?

Jennifer,

I purchased the rug from Rugs USA. It is the Venice Shag rug in White. Thank you!

Well done! I love the wall color against the white trim, with the accents in yellow. Love the drapes! Can you share where you found the rug?
