I have a love for pastels and all things feminine. However, while putting together a nursery for our little girl, I wanted to build a space that was dreamlike but still offered more than my point of view. We had remodeled the loft into a room so a new wall was constructed. This allowed us to install pocket windows that we made into frames. I wanted playful words in both languages, English & Vietnamese (my native tongue), so my husband custom made vinyl cutouts in gold for the pocket window frames. The rest came together easily utilizing both colors that are traditionally associated with boys and girls, blue and pink. I also added a touch of lavender for a touch of serenity.
I wanted to also explore a bohemian motif underneath the modern approach, so I started collecting items that would sew that together, the silk elephant is made from Thai artisans that I scored from a trip we took to Chiang Mai last year. The dress and giraffe moccasins were a gift from my friend who lives in South Africa.
I put together an inspiration board before launching the actual decor work and was so happy to see our vision come together.
