Description
A modern nautical nursery for our sweet baby boy, Mason!
Design Inspiration
Inspired by a bright and bold color combination of turquoise and navy blue, this nursery will grow with baby Mason for years to come.
Decorating Style
My decorating style would be best described as vintage/preppy/eclectic. I love mixing old with new, and having a bright, cheerful feeling throughout my house.
Project Details
Most all of the other items were handmade by me and my husband. We installed hardwood floors in the nursery, hand painted the vintage dresser and hand stenciled vintage wardrobe. After searching on Pinterest for a couple of DIY built in storage bench tutorials, we tackled our very own built in window seat in the dormer window. The pillows are a mix of handmade and store bought from around town. Bedding and window treatments were also custom made.
Favorite Items
My favorite item in the nursery is the hand painted vintage dresser. I have admired these for years, and to find one for our baby boy's nursery was just perfect! It adds the perfect amount of vintage flair, with a stylish modern feel as well. Not to mention the storage it offers for a room that is so small.
Advice
I found it most helpful to create a Pinterest board for this nursery, so as I was going along throughout the months finding new pieces for the nursery, I could pin them and see how they all coordinated together. A lot of great items never made the cut this way, but it was worth it in the end to have a cohesive look to our nursery. Also, since many of the fabric items were custom made, I had swatches that I carried around in my purse and could color match if I was in a store and thought something would work well in the space.

Everything looks amazing!
Could you tell me where you got the curtainthat is behind the rocking chair?
I was just curious where you got your chair from?
Hi Amber,
The drawer liners used are made by Macbeth. I found them locally at Marshall’s a few years ago, but I believe they can still be found online.
What did you use for the drawer liner/chevron print?
Hi Nikki, thank you for your kind words! The window treatments are custom made using a navy and white stripe by Premier Prints turned horizontally.
Sweet Rhapsody, by Behr purchased from Home Depot. Happy painting!

What color Turquoise did you use on the walls, where did you purchase the paint from? That is the exact color I want to use.
@silverliningdecor what color paint did you use for the walls? Love this nursery!
Hi Natasha, thank you for your kind words! The rug is from Land of Nod.
The nursery is absolutely amazing!!! Love love love the rug. May I ask where you got the rug from?
Hi Lori, Sweet Rhapsody, by Behr.
What paint is used on the walls?
The lamp was from Target, but it has since been recalled. There is a new version there now. Also, there’s a turquoise version that looks almost identical, but at a higher price point from Urban Outfitters.
Thank you, Antonella! The color is “Sweet Rhapsody” by Behr at the Home Depot. I don’t have the paint can any longer to give you the number on the can, so I hope the paint name will help you out! Best wishes!
Donna, I don’t have the can of paint anymore, but it looking lighter may just be because of the lighting in my room. We did 2 coats of paint over a previously white wall. I believe I did an eggshell, just a bit more than flat, but not a semi gloss. Hope that helps!
U did an EXCELLENT job with this room I love it I love it, a being look for this color for a long time can u share with me the name of the color and the numer in the can please!!
Where is the floor lamp from?
Hi! I love this color do you have the actual numbers from the can? We found Sweet Rhapsody but it looks lighter than your room. How many coats did you do? The one we found is 490A-3. Did you do semi gloss or gloss or just flat?
Thanks, Nicole! Glad you found some inspiration from our nursery! Best wishes with your little Mason!
ahh never mind found another lady had asked you :)
I am curious to know the paint color on the walls??? Everything looks fabulous and it’s so inspirational. Oddly enough my sons name will be Mason as well and we have decided to do a preppy nautical theme and came across your Mason’s room and thought it was perfect!
Ashlee, Thank you! I purchased two of the pillows from overstock.com, and the third(the one to the right with the whale applique) I made myself. You can find the fabric for the one I made myself on etsy.com.
Francine,
The fabric was purchased at a local fabric store, but you can find similar, if not the same, through online fabric stores like fabric.com or etsy.com. The crib sheet came from PB Kids. For the bumper you need about 2 1/2 yards and for the skirt, about 2 yards depending on your drop. Hope that helps!
Where did you get the pattern for the bedding set and where and how much material would I need?
Where did you get the fabric/pillows on the window seat? I love them!!
Hi Tfarm! The wall color is Sweet Rhapsody by Behr at the Home Depot. It’s even better in person!
What color are the walls? So pretty!!!
Thanks, Jess! The buckets are from The Dollar Tree-would you believe they have amazing storage buckets?! All different sizes, shapes, and colors. And the chalk labels came from Etsy.
Love this nursery! Where are the aqua colored buckets with chalk labels from?
Thank you, Jan! It was so much fun putting together our baby boy’s room!
Thank you, Sabrina! I tried not to go overboard with nautical decor, but instead hints here and there. I appreciate your comment!
The dresser is amazing and I love how you delicately layered in a nautical theme. Great job!
Mason’s nursery is just perfect! I love all the details…. and it looks so well thought out.
It is such a bright & cheery room. Good luck with your new baby boy!
