Laduree Paris First Birthday Tea Party

Description

This was my little girl's first birthday, a Ladurée Paris Tea Party

Design Inspiration

Ladurée's Parisian Salons

Project Details

To re-create the quintessential Ladurée ambiance for the dessert bar, I went through my photos from Paris to revisit the interiors, color palettes and style of table place settings at their various locations. Their table settings are traditional white linen, silver tea pots, creamers and sugar, and gold rimmed solid pastel plates, cups and, saucers. With this information in hand, I began to search ebay, etsy, Amazon, etc. and purchased cups and saucers from these sites with the most similar china patterns available, as well as silver plated copper tea pots and accessories. For some of the finishing touches, I had mounted and framed one of their scarves detailing their macaron menu, designed gift wrap with arabesque scrolls, similar to their packaging, and hung the pop-up of Ladurée salons from the ceiling which comes included with the book Ladurée: Decoration and Inspiration

Since our Ladurée location does not carry their delectable marshmallows and meringues, my husband and I made them together after work and he put the baby to bed (what a guy! right? he also did the calligraphy for her invitations).

For the kiwi marshmallows we used “Emily’s Famous Marshmallows” recipe from allrecipes.com but instead of using vanilla, we juiced and strained three kiwis and used it as part of the water content the recipe calls for. For the strawberry meringues we used the “Peppermint Meringues” recipe as a guide, also from allrecipes.com, but only used the egg whites, sugar and an all natural strawberry flavoring and a large star shaped piping tip for the ideal shape. We were very pleased with how both recipes turned out.

As lovers of the ballet, our little one’s first gifts were ballet tutus and shoes from Paris, from the OpĂ©ra national de Paris at Garnier Palace and from The Metropolitan Opera gift shops. Her grandmother also gave her a sweet musical jewelry box with a ballerina dancing to Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Swans” .”

Love your styling! I'm wanting to do a Laduree themed tea party, was just wondering how you got hold of the macaron tower?
