Gender Neutral Basics

Description

We didn't know if we were having a boy or girl until the baby came so the paint, furniture and bedding were purchased to work for either a boy or girl.

Design Inspiration

Once the baby arrived and was a girl I really wanted to make sure the room looked like a 'girls' room.

Decorating Style

I love black and white, monograms, chevron and candles.

Project Details

The bed and dresser are from the Young America built to grow collection. http://www.youngamerica.com/built-to-grow

The bedding is Pottery Barn Kids, from the Taylor Collection. The pendant light is also from Pottery Barn as are the pennants above the crib. www.potterybarnkids.com

The little rocking chair belonged to me when I was little and the large rocking chair belonged to my husband's grandmother.

The mirror above the dresser is from Ikea, I just added the bow. www.ikea.com

The lamps and shades on the dresser were found at Target. www.target.com

The prints on the nursery wall are from Zulily and the frames are from Hobby Lobby. www.zulily.com

The 'H' on the crib wall and the bird chalkboards were made by my father-in-law but were inspired by items I saw on Etsy. The elephant hooks were also purchased there. www.etsy.com

The chevron rug is from Urban Outfitters. www.urbanoutfitters.com

The Dr. Seuss print was my husbands.

Favorite Items

The birds that my father-in-law are really neat. They are also chalk boards and I love the fact that they were made by family.

Advice

You can find nursery items anywhere, I found a ton of items at stores that are typically 'adult'.

I love that shade of blue you used for your accent wall.

Those elephant hooks are adorable. Those alphabet stickers, too.
