Gemma’s DIY Lavender, Grey and Yellow Nursery

I've always dreamt of decorating a purple nursery so when I found out I was having a girl with my second child I went right to work!

Design Inspiration

I love the color combination of lavender, grey and yellow so I started there.  I am drawn to more modern prints for the fabrics like chevron but still wanted some feminine touches like the ruffles and bows.

I recently took sewing back up and was excited to make all of the fabric items myself.

Decorating Style

I just start looking at other photos to get inspiration and then begin to create what I want.  I browse a ton of fabrics online until I find the right ones.

Project Details

Curtains, crib skirt, pillows and pillow cover - made with Premier Print chevron grey and yellow print fabric from fabric.com.  Lavender accent fabric purchased from Joann Fabrics.

Basket covers - lavender fabric and yellow ribbon from Joann Fabrics.

Crib is a hand me down we painted white.

Pictures above crib were made by me just using images and editing in Power Point, I bought the white square frames from Joann and printed them myself.

Favorite Items

If I had to pick I would say the curtains.  I love the way they turned out!  Second favorite would be the lamp : )

Advice

Look online at higher end retailers like Land of Nod or Pottery Barn Kids to get inspiration for bedding, etc., then search for similar fabrics at fabric.com or other fabric site to make them yourself for much less!  This was you can customize touches yourself too.
