Description
Designed this nursery for our 1st baby...and IT'S A GIRL! I wanted a traditional, vintage style that creates a soothing atmosphere. I wanted to include DIY pieces that would add a personal touch mixed with new pieces to fit the vision for a unique and comforting nursery :)
Design Inspiration
I was first inspired by a white vintage mirror from Pier One Imports to create an overall regal 'princess' feel to the nursery. Secondly, I was inspired by the grey walls and white trim that already existed in the room coupled with the latest trend (also very traditional) of pink and grey for nurseries. Third, I was intrigued by a vintage style dresser that we already owned that fit the 'look'... and I went from there!
Decorating Style
My decorating style is traditional mixed with vintage. I like to mix both new and used items together to create a 'cozy' and unique atmosphere.
Favorite Items
Pier One Imports vintage mirror - I think that it sets the tone for the a classic feminine nursery!
Advice
Don't be afraid to mix and match items that you already own with new items. We kept the walls and trim the same and repainted & added glass knobs to a vintage dresser that we already owned. Then, after some research, I found key items that I liked for less money at places such as: Etsy, Babies R Us and Home Goods to save for splurging on Pottery Barn bedding and satin black-out curtains.
To get this look, it helps to start with a couple of vintage items in mind and then search to find pieces that 'match'.
