Baby Nursery for Brooke

Description

After 2 boys, it was a no brainer to accent the nursery in pink. We didn't want to paint the room again... but it looks great with the teal and pink. I think having the walls green really compliments all the pink accessories. It was so much fun hunting my favorite stores for feminine pieces... all the furniture in the nursery was less than $500! I wanted Brooke's bedding to be different, so I sent the fabric to my Aunt Jan, and she sewed the quilt, pillows and even a baby doll quilt. To save on cost, I purchased the silk and made the curtains and rest of the bedding. I love the Winbourg Sisters artwork, and painted the piece above the antique dresser to accent the blues in the room and we hung cute butterfly mobiles and a tree branch from the sky painted on the ceiling. The last hand-painted pieces was the ceiling medallion that we bought from Lowe's for less than $20. What I love about Brooke's nursery is the serene feeling and it looks like a very expensive nursery, but was done on a small budget! You can do it too!

Design Inspiration

The rug was the first major purchase, and then when I found Tanya Whelan's Ava Rose fabric collection I was sold, along with Bari J's first fabric release. I love the teal blue and pink and the birds and butterflies. So sweet and delicate.

Advice

If you see something you like and it speaks to you... get it. Look for shape and style... paint does wonders in transforming pieces.

Hi Dawn, we should trade our thrift shopping finds! :) I love what you did with this room. And the colors are just so bright. But isn't there too much going on with the ceiling?

The wall color is a lot more muted than the pictures display... and the sky used to house airplanes for my boys, so we decided to keep it and move onto butterflies. Thank you so much for the sweet comments... I wish you could see it in person... it is much better than the pictures and not too overwhelming. I thought if I were a baby, would I want to stare at a white ceiling, lol! The tree branch picture is really a better depiction of the wall color. Blessings!
