Teddy Bear’s Picnic 1st Birthday Party

Description

A woodland picnic to celebrate my son's first birthday! Be aware of the bears, they might join us.

Design Inspiration

The inspiration for this party was my son's love for bears. His birthday is in the Fall, so we decided to embrace its beautiful colors, range of delicious scents, and overall ambiance.

Decorating Style

Woodsy and whimsical with natural elements.

Project Details

We worked hard to keep the woodsy style for this party. Most of the materials used were natural, including wood, burlap, fabric and paper. It's a "Fall Picnic in the Woods" theme and I tried to stay true to it. The colors were red, white, brown, dark green and turquoise blue. There were three to four picnic blankets laying over the grass, making sitting easy for the children. A giant bear holding a couple of balloons was placed over a blanket under a tree, which created a beautiful photo backdrop for the kids.

The cake was made by my good friend and was beautiful and delicious. The party favors were honey bread covered with chocolate made by my sister. She travelled thousands of miles to be here with us and insisted in making these delicious treats. We wrapped them in a beautiful blue gingham fabric. I believe it goes well with the bear theme.

The invitation was folded to look like a picnic blanket. Each one was tied with a red ribbon which contained a tag with the guest's name. Very cute!

I DIYed everything and tried to stay on budget. My tip is to start early and create a picture board inspiration. A lot of research was made on Project Nursery, so I would like to thank all mamas out there for sharing your beautiful birthday parties.

Favorite Items

The dessert table and the cake. Overall, the party ended up being exactly how I dreamed.

Advice

Try to keep it simple. Less is more. I like parties that embrace the handmade feel, without losing its charm.
