Baby Soren’s Nursery

Description

We wanted a nursery that we all would all love. We wanted a calm, relaxing and fun place that reflected our style and personalities.

Design Inspiration

I first fell in love with the Oeuf crib. I really like blending modern style with vintage and rustic decor. I searched for a long time for a used Oeuf crib in great condition and finally found one of Craigslist.

Decorating Style

I didn't want to go with a theme nursery. Rather I spent a lot of time at thrift stores, garage sales, antique & vintage stores and Etsy looking for specific pieces that brought the room together for me. We also wanted to put our own personal touch on it by making a lot of the things in the room ourselves such as the barnwood hanging shelves, paintings, the bedding, boppy, blankets and making the mobile. I wanted some elements of nature and wood along with some sleek modern lines too.

Project Details

After getting the crib I decided the next step was picking the paint color. We didn't know at the time if we were having a boy or girl so we wanted something gender neutral. I found the paint called Robins Nest at Ace Hardware. It all started to come together from there. We got our glider from Babies r Us and it is very comfortable! We used an old dresser & bookshelf that we already had and found the nightstand at a local antique store.

Favorite Items

My favorite things are the Oeuf Crib and the Barnwood shelves that my husband made :)

Advice

Spend time looking for specific pieces that mean something to you or you really like! Use you hands and try to make something, it doesn't matter if its perfect just that you put your own touches on it. Go to antique stores and thrift stores to find unique pieces. Use Craigslist to find items that you want but are out of your budget, there are some great deals out there!

From afar, the room looks cluttered. but when you look closely, the details are actually charming.
