Clean and Modern Playroom

Description

The mission here was to take an all white playroom and spice it up while maintaining flexibility to change the room's design and layout as the kids - and they're toys - grow up.

Design Inspiration

The inspiration for the room was the two photos flanking the window. The peachy pink, mint green, gold and orange are soothing but exude a playful energy at the same time.

Decorating Style

Fresh and clean with a modern aesthetic.

Project Details

The walls are a custom design - made by me - with super-thick washi tape made especially for walls. (What a doozy that was to take on!) The leaning mirror is Ikea. The crates are from Michael's and the light fixture is by Arteriors. The artwork was purchased on One Kings Lane. The shelving unit is Ikea. The storage bins are from Land of Nod. The cowhide is Ikea and the floor pillows are from One Kings Lane. All photos courtesy of Raquel Bianca Creative.

Favorite Items

I'm torn between the washi tape walls and the light fixture! The walls were a real labor of love...but that light fixture!! The brass is just stunning. Lucky girls!

Advice

Don't overdo it. Originally, the washi tape design was on all four walls of this room. It broke my heart, but I removed the tape from two of the walls. The white wall space gave the pattern room to breathe. Right away, I knew it was the right decision.

Love those little wooden human toys. What do you call these again?

I like the effect of all the colorful elements set against really white walls. The effect is still bright and clear.
