When we started the room, we had no theme because my husband and I couldn’t agree on a theme. He wanted a lion theme or locomotive theme. I wanted to do a monkey theme or giraffe theme. In the end, I think it came out nice we ended up doing the Safari theme when I came across the paper lanterns from world market! They were on clearance and that’s when the room got it’s theme. I absouletly love it! The colors are cream, gold, black, brown & blue.. Everytime I tell people the colors I smile because I know they are thinking why? lol

I just LOVE that mirror! It’s so cool there’s such a great story behind it. Best of luck with the arrival of Alden Jr. I’ll actually be in your city that day! :)

Hi Valencia:  Thanks for sharing this room and your story.  It’s really heartwarming to see both parents working on the nursery.  It speaks volumes.  Now, I love this room.  It’s simple yet it’s very lovely.  Alden Jr. would love it, for sure!

There are two thing I love about this room: the mirror and the chalkboard.  Really awesome story behind the mirror.  The chalkboard is a wonderful idea, I just hope that you can keep everything you’ve written there until Alden Jr. learns to read so he could read everything for himself.  Or why not take pictures of it before you clear it?
