Serena and calming nursery color scheme

At Little Crown Interiors, we talk a lot about color. We live and breathe color every day and are inspired to incorporate new and unique color schemes into our nursery designs. After all, color stimulates us mentally, emotionally and sometimes even physically, so nailing down the right color palette in a baby's room is an important decision. Quite often, we have a nursery design client who wants something different. Gone are the days of the traditional pink or blue nursery. Now more than ever, we're asked for nurseries that are unique, different and one-of-a-kind. One of the simplest ways to achieve a sense of originality is with an unconventional color scheme. We encourage our clients to go with color schemes that they would put in their own bedroom, and then "baby it up" if necessary. Just last week, we met with a new client who wanted a color scheme that was serene, calming and modern at the same time. Her favorite color is aqua, so we went from there. A few minutes later, we had agreed on a standout color palette of aqua, coral, warm grey and antique white. It can be intimidating to delve into unfamiliar color territory, but take it from us and one of our color heroes, Jonathan Adler, the risk is worth it. "So many people shy away from using colour in their homes for fear of getting it wrong...But ignorance and fear are no reason to live in a bland box. Beige is a bummer!  …

Curtain Candies

Isn't it nice when you can find a way to use a few items or pieces that you already own in baby's first room? It's a great way to not only stay on budget, but also to bring a little old into the new. Melisa and I love suggesting ways to re-purpose things you might already own, like giving an old dresser a facelift with paint and new knobs or reupholstering that ottoman or chair that's been looking for some love. So why not rework those window treatments too? Curtain Candies are an easy and unique way to give plain curtains a new, updated look. As simple as putting on an earring, Curtain Candies can be added or removed without damaging your curtains, which makes it easy for you to change the look of your child’s room as they grow and their tastes change. Created by Etsy shop owner and mother of two, Nikki Pfeiffer, the idea of Curtain Candies hit her when she was creating nurseries for her children and needed a solution for a quick and affordable window treatment makeover. WIN IT! Curtain Candies is giving away any product up to $76 in value to one lucky Project Nursery reader. Visit Curtain Candies' shop, and tell us which style you like best to enter. Brestfriend

Did you know that it's World Breastfeeding Week? To help celebrate, we invited Amanda Cole, of Yummy Mummy, to provide you all with her favorite breastfeeding products.   The most common phrase I hear from expectant moms at Yummy Mummy is: "This is a whole new world for me! I have no idea what I need." Although the number of options may feel overwhelming to some expectant and new moms, ultimately most of the breastfeeding products on the market serve one important purpose: easing your transition into breastfeeding and helping keep you and baby as comfortable as can be. As a breastfeeding mom, breastfeeding store owner and lactation educator, there are a slew of different products that I love and recommend. Below, I've listed five of our most popular. Top 5 Breastfeeding Products and 1 Very Important Service 1) Nursing Bras: Regular bras can actually become quite cumbersome when nursing a baby. Bras designed specifically for breastfeeding moms—made with cups that drop down or push to the side easily to expose the breast—allow for much easier access for babies to nurse. And don't fret, just because you're wearing a nursing bra doesn't mean you can't feel and look sexy. These days, breastfeeding bras come in all shapes and sizes, including frilly and lace. 2) Nursing Wear: Whether you're receiving visitors at the hospital, lounging at home alone with hubby and baby or going out for a quick Sunday brunch, a stylish nursing gown, shirt or dress keeps moms covered while …

Baby Nari

The best gift a mom can receive on Mother’s Day is a trip to the masseuse for a deep tissue massage. Carting the kids around is physically tough on the bod. A yoga instructor once bluntly blurted out during a class, “Ladies, you may be crazy about your babies but your abs and back aren’t feeling the love.” I suppose she had a point, and now three kids later I realize that had I discovered a product like the Baby Hip Hugger which helped me carry baby for long stretches in an easy and comfortable way everyone, including my lower back, would have been happier.
