When my eldest son was born, my friends and I joined a gym that offered babysitting. It was fabulous. The babies were happy (most of the time), and we got a chance to work off the baby fat. Exercising set a routine for my week and got me out of the apartment; it allowed me to spend time for myself, while my son was in a safe environment only a few feet away. If you’ve had a C-section, like I did, you'll need to wait at least six weeks before your doctor gives you the go ahead to bust a move. It's hard to muster up the strength to make it to a yoga class, but in the end, exercise gives you the energy boost you need to help you through the day. Regular exercise after pregnancy can: - Promote weight loss - Improve your cardiovascular fitness - Restore muscle strength - Build back your abdominal muscles - Boost your energy level - Improve your mood - Relieve stress - Help prevent postpartum depression Here are a few suggestions to help you get motivated: For a small additional fee, many gyms offer in-house childcare. The entry age for babies is different at every club, so make sure you ask. Hiring a personal trainer can be expensive, but having someone push you to the limit while having a weekly scheduled "date" is perfect motivation if you can afford it. My favorite workout gear when I was pre- and postnatal is lululemon. …

Hope Invitation

As we put the finishing touches on the "Celebration of Hope" event we're hosting this Friday night, we wanted to share a few of our favorite elements of this fabulous evening.  As nursery designers, we feel truly honored to work with all kinds of moms-to-be during the most magical part of their lives. So, we are beyond thrilled to share this special evening with one of our celebrity clients—mom, HOPE crib owner, entrepreneur, undefeated champion and philanthropist Laila Ali. She's such a kind, friendly, accomplished and compassionate woman; we know that everyone at the event will enjoy the opportunity to meet her! Since we worked hand-in-hand with Newport Cottages in designing the HOPE Crib, we got a special backstage peek at how these beautiful cribs are made. The wood is absolutely stunning, even before the gorgeous pink paint goes on. We're both also admittedly sugar-a-holics (especially Gerri!), and we enjoy all things party-related. So we're pretty excited about these pie pops by Cakewalk Desserts—they'll be in the gift boxes. Even though we can't wait to chat with friends, family and fellow Project Nursery contributors, when paired with the perfect wine—courtesy of Cameron Hughes Wine—we might just spend the evening with our mouths full! We also love our online shopping! The trendsetting finds on OpenSky are really fabulous, and among the other great items, our gift boxes have $50 OpenSky gift cards. If you don't already follow Project Nursery on OpenSky, it's time for you to start! Over the weekend, we …

PaperPatchInk Card

It happens about this time every year. The stress. The anxiety. The fear of knowing that it's time for me to wrangle my family, coordinate them in the season's best outfits, bribe (or threaten) smiles out of them and pretend for that quick second of a camera click—that we ARE the perfect, smiling, calm family of four, who just happen to have on matchy, but not too matchy outfits. Call me old fashioned if you want (or just plain crazy for trying to organize family pictures), but you just can't replace the warm-and-fuzzy feeling you get every time you receive a holiday photo card in the mail. Plus, it's a great excuse to show off your adorable offspring (belly or babies)! So, here it is for all my lovely PN friends—some of my favorite places to find the most adorable cards, design ideas and the dos and don'ts of Christmas card sending. Design: Which came first, the picture or the card?  Whether you start with the card and shoot your picture to coordinate or vice versa, look for a Christmas card that fits your family's personality and style. This year I'm going for a gray, yellow and turquoise color scheme with my favorite print of the moment—chevron! I love how this card from PaperPatchINK is just yellow and grey; I can add a pop of color by having each of us wearing a little turquoise! Don't be afraid to combine your good news! I love this card from Lillebarn Too; it …
