Wall decals can truly be works of art, not to mention a blessing for us moms that weren't born with the artistic gene (as I've confessed before, drawing stick figures can be a challenge for me). Bliss Living Double Charms Necklace

As a kid, I loved to see my name on things. It made me feel special and important, and it told everyone that it was mine! Although I have moved past the days of personalized bike license plates, I still get a little giddy when I receive a personalized gift with my name on it, and even more so with my daughter’s name. I’ve always admired the custom charm necklaces engraved with your children’s names. It combines two of my favorite things in life—jewelry and my daughter! I have to admit that I ordered one before going into labor, so I could leave the hospital sporting my newly earned mom title. Bliss Living does an amazing job at creating custom necklaces. Their "Double Charms Name Necklace" features two sterling silver pendants personalized with your choice of words or name. Have more than two kids? Additional pendants can be added to include everyone! The engraving is all done by hand, creating one-of-a-kind pieces and giving the pendants a personalized touch. Complete the look by adding a freshwater pearl or birthstone crystal. WIN IT! One lucky Project Nursery reader will win a Double Charms Name Necklace in Silver from Bliss Living. HOW TO ENTER: To enter, visit Bliss Living, and let us know what you would have engraved on your necklace with a comment below. Contest ends Wednesday, March 14th, 2012 at 11:59pm PST. So far so good

As some of you may know, our family kicked off 2012 with a cross-country move. While I was dead set on raising my boys in sunny California, life had other plans for them, and my husband had an opportunity that simply made sense for the entire family despite being on the "wrong" coast. My 70° and sunny bubble quickly burst when the movers arrived. Deciding what was coming to our new NYC apartment and what was heading straight into years of storage was no easy task. This life-changing event called for some serious downsizing. And while I had a 22-month old to manage during the move, I also had his enormous sleigh crib to deal with. After all the packing and purging, the last thing I wanted was to lug a massive crib cross-country to use for what, just a couple of months? The panic then set in after thinking logistics. Would the crib fit in the room? How would I get rid of it? Where would I store it? And so it was decided—my youngest would be fast-tracked into a twin bed to share a room with his 4-year-old brother. Shared rooms are a hot topic in these parts. Pam and I are both making our kids share (although she has one up on me as she's mixing genders). The real issue then becomes how does one mom (me!) single-handedly manage all their stuff? Keeping clean and organized is a constant battle with small children. Throw in a small …

Frames_Wallpaper

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post mentioning a unique way of preserving your child's art by creating a mosaic collage. It got me thinking of other ways to organize all your little Picasso's works of art that may be accumulating in a box at the back of your closet (that would be me). These are a few ideas to get you started: Photo Books: Take pictures of their art to include in a photo book. This one comes from Pinhole Press. I wrote a post a few months ago about about my favorite photo books. Not into digital? Scrapbook it.Frame: Kids just love seeing their masterpiece framed and hung with pride. You don't have to pay a fortune for frames. Pick up vintage frames at a secondhand stores and just paint—super easy and super crafty. Hang: You can get creative displaying your art with a DIY banner or clip ropes. Magnetic Paint: Paint a large square on the wall using magnetic paint. You and your child can switch up the art monthly, so it's always fresh and new. Three-Ring Binders: A no-brainer—buy a binder, some page protectors and label them with the age of your child and the date. Wall Decals: I love the decals at Butch and Harold. You can get the look of a frame without hammers, and it won't hurt your walls. Genius! Wallpaper: I'm crazy about this wallpaper filled with blank picture frames that your kids can draw on. How do you store/display your child's artwork?
