chevron wall

I'm so excited to share this project of how to paint a chevron wall. In case you didn't know, it's official—baby #3 for us is another GIRL! And although she's not due until the end of August, I'm getting a head start on her nursery now. Okay, technically, my official due date is September 5th, but since I will be having another C-section, this OCD mama will be scheduling the baby's arrival at the end of August. The furniture is ordered, the bedding is picked and the paint colors are set! I'll be sharing the design process as it unfolds, but I wanted to first give you an inside peek at the chevron walls I painted this past weekend. I can't stop staring at them! If you are planning a zigzag accent wall or even looking to update another room in the house (I think chevron would be cool in the kitchen), here's my step-by-step process of how to paint a chevron wall in one day! 1. First, assemble your tools. I used a yardstick, pencil, blue painting tape (2 rolls), a level and a ladder. Our ceilings are 9' in the nursery, but if you have lower ceilings, you might be able to get away with a step stool. 2. Decide how big you want your chevron to be. (And how much taping off you want to tackle!) I wanted it to be big and bold, and since I didn't have to paint the wall behind the chevron, I wanted …

Jonathan Adler All Occasion Card Set

I co-hosted a "sprinkle" last week for a dear friend who is expecting baby number three. Since she's been around the block with the baby shower thing, we decided to break tradition and do something a little different. We honored her with an evening of beauty. Think hair styling, makeup application and brow shaping at a local San Francisco salon. Everyone had a wonderful kid-free time, catching up, giggling, eating/drinking and getting beautified. At the end of the evening, the guest of honor presented me with a darling hostess gift—this all occasion Jonathan Adler Card Set. I loved it so much that it got me thinking about great hostess gifts. It's always a good idea to have some stocked and ready to go. I mean, if some brave soul is up for hosting my loud family of five, you bet I'm bringing something cute as a little thank you! I've been on the hunt for a cute iPad case that will make me happy each time I pull out my tablet. Kate Spade always adds a little sunshine to life, and this rugby stripe iPad case fits the bill. I wish it came in yellow or pink, but black and white is classic. I love anything monogrammed. These monogrammed plastic cups would add a little glamour to a backyard BBQ. Add the napkins, and you are really getting fancy! A little bauble always gets a girl's heart to skip a beat. These initial enamel bracelets from C Wonder are preppy …

Modern Mix FLOR for the Nursery

Our favorite floor covering solution for the nursery and home may now have a store near you! FLOR locations are popping up fast all over the country, and with about a gazillion options, they have made it even easier for customers to see, touch and feel their styles. The San Francisco outpost celebrated its opening a few weeks ago with an evening store opening party, and PN was on the scene. The store was buzzing with energy as local designers, customers, media and the team from FLOR’s headquarters in Chicago mingled and celebrated their second west coast location. It was terrific to meet the launch team in person and hear about their very busy schedule with back-to-back store openings. With eight stores nationwide and four more (pay attention Georgetown, Boston and West Hollywood) opening in the next few months, FLOR is really growing. Smilebooth was also on hand to capture everyone's pose with a little added FLOR flair. The cool industrial space was stocked with the newest styles like the Mod Zebra, Mod Cow and Hey Jack. We love FLOR for the nursery, big kids' bedrooms and playrooms because of its versatility, easy installation and low VOC. Melisa and I both have FLOR in our homes, and when we like something, we aren't shy about letting you know. In fact, Melisa just laid down her FLOR tiles this weekend for the start of her "pink playroom" makeover. Yes, she is a mom of boys, but this is also her office. I …

Princess Girls Room

My name is Michelle, and I am a Pinterest addict. I am currently very obsessed with this amazing site and am finding the most awe-inspiring pictures. This week I wanted to highlight some of my favorite over-the-top girl's rooms fit only for a princess. The custom woodwork in this princess room is out of this world. I love the idea of a bed in a separate cove—it seems so cozy. However, my favorite aspect of this room is definitely the staircase. I love the Old World feeling inspired in this room designed by Candice Olson. It is classic and elegant. I think it's the window seat and accompanying pillows that make this room so spectacular. Although we can only see a slice of this room featured in Elle Decor, there is something so appealing about it. It feels modern and fresh. The detail above the doorway is amazing. You cannot have a princess room without a canopy bed. What I love about this room is the absence of pink. It's chic, hip and ultra feminine without being so girly. Animal print carpet—yum! I would love to know which is your favorite. Happy pinning!
