Room Accessories

Much like adding a scarf or necklace—or that fabulous pair of earrings—to your outfit, adding accents and styling elements to a room creates that final layer of the design that completes our rooms. Room accessories add special moments; we encourage our clients to layer their rooms with items that are meaningful and some that just work well with the room. Keep reading to enter to win a room accessory of your very own. When we created the nursery vignettes for the NYC Big City Moms' Shower, we included some of our favorite styling pieces. 1. We love these Jellycat Bashful Bunnies that we got for the event from OpenSky. They are so soft and adorable. They may be inanimate objects, but they bring a serene energy to the space. 2. These bird cages from West Elm can add an element of romance to a space. We added pink felt flowers for a little more elaboration and definition on the white cages for the event. 3. Skip Hop Owl Bookends are both bright and fun as well as functional. While they are intended to be used as bookends, they can also add a fun distraction on a changing table and a bright punch of personality to the rooms they inhabit. 4. Jellycat's Orange Aardvark is as cuddly as it is cute. We fell for him the first time we took him out of his packaging, and he also happens to be in this season's fashion-forward orange. 5. We love to find …

Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair and Baby Set

You've heard us rave about the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair before, but we've got good reason—it's one awesome chair. My almost three-year-old loves his. It's comfortable, and it makes him feel like a big boy to be right up at the table. It makes me happy because he's still safely strapped in with a full harness not just a lap belt that a booster seat would offer, and it looks great in my dining room. We've teamed up with Stokke to offer our readers the chance to win a Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair ($249) and the Baby Set ($69) to help celebrate the iconic chair's 40th birthday! Both the seat and the footrest are adjustable, so as your child grows you can make sure the chair grows with him or her and remains ergonomically correct. No more dangling feet! In fact, with the Baby Set, this chair can last a lifetime from six months onward. Just think, the whole family could have a Tripp Trapp Chair of their own—in a rainbow of colors if you like! Minimal in design and materials used, its eco-friendly footprint takes advantage of an abundant source of sturdy cultivated European beech-wood. Its beautiful design will fit right into your home—it's even used at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City! The only question we have left is which of the eleven color choices would you choose? WIN IT! One lucky Project Nursery reader will win a Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair with Harness and Stokke …

Orange and Pink Shared Girls Room

You may have seen this sweet girls' room in our current Room of the Month Finalists group. Today we are chatting with Casi Densmore-Koon, editor and founder of CupcakeMAG, to get tips on how she mixed and matched patterns and built a big design in a small space. Don't forget to the check out the giveaway at the end for a chance to win a virtual design revamp of your own! 1. How do you like to begin your design process? You have to think of it as a blank canvas. We started with the small spaces trend in mind and wanted to make the most of a small space. We wanted to create big things even though the space was small. We immediately knew we wanted to include the Emily Bed in Raspberry from Newport Cottages, and we built the color palette around it. From that point on, it just came alive! We searched for the perfect treasures to fill the room. 2. How did you choose the color scheme? After looking at Annette Tatum's paint collection, I knew right away we wanted something bold and bright. We went with the orange and pink combo because it was cheerful, fresh and fun. Perfect for little girls! 3. Mixing patterns is a big trend right now. How do you recommend getting this look without overwhelming the space or making it look cluttered? It's huge, and I love it! It's important not to have it everywhere! I suggest picking one main …

Green Chevron Storage Baskets

While attending the Big City Moms event last week, I met many soon-to-be new mamas who were asking for tips on how to design and organize a nursery in a small space. Here are some of my favorite tips. image via customnursery.com There is no need for a changing table. A dresser topped with a changing pad works perfectly. Products that are used frequently should be easily accessible. Use the top drawer of your dresser to store diapers, creams and wipes or put them in cute baskets. You'll be surprised by the amount of laundry a baby can produce. Keep laundry hampers in reach of the changing area. Using the space under the crib for storage is a huge space saver. I store diapers under mine. Hang an over-the-door shoe organizer to store items like onesies, baby blankets and burp cloths. Take advantage of the vertical space of the room by stacking books and toys on shelves. Storage baskets and bins help keep a nursery looking clutter-free. As soon as your baby has moved onto the next size of clothing, get rid of the old stuff. Donate! Do you have any space-saving tips for all the soon-to-be moms out there? I'd love to hear from you.
