Minted You Are Here World Map

Ready to see a new side of Minted? The company we all know and love for their gorgeous baby announcements and high-quality holiday cards (and don't even get me started on those cool address label wraps) has taken the leap into the art world. Mariam Nafic, Minted's CEO and Founder, opened her newly renovated San Francisco home for the unveiling of Minted's art line for local design bloggers a few weeks ago, and let me tell you, it's breathtaking. Minted's art collection consists of hand-selected pieces from around the globe, which are submitted by independent artists and then chosen by the Minted community. All the pieces are museum-quality, printed on archival paper and available in various sizes and colors. Wouldn't you love to have one of these pieces in your child's room? Plus, for the rest of 2012, a percentage of the proceeds from Minted’s children’s art category will be donated to Every Mother Counts, the maternal health advocacy and mobilization campaign founded by Christy Turlington. Check out the new side of Minted. Which piece is your favorite?

Vintage Gender Reveal

You've waited so long to find out...is it a boy or a girl? Many parents decide to wait until the baby is born to find out, but for those who like to know in advance, how did you reveal your baby's gender with friends and family? How did you let your older child know if they'd be having a baby brother or a baby sister? Here are a few fun ways to reveal your baby's gender. A friend of mine recently sent this sequence of pictures to friends and family to share the news of her second child's gender. Her daughter got to discover the surprise as well. Boy, oh boy! Another Project Nursery reader shared her gender reveal story. They brought two loveys to the ultrasound room, a pink one and a blue one, along with a big envelope. They asked the technician to put whichever color symbolized the baby's gender in the envelope so they could have their older daughter open it up on Christmas morning. Under the Christmas tree, their two-year-old daughter discovered a pink lovey, which meant she'd be having a baby sister. What a great gift! Gender Reveal Parties are very popular right now. As we've seen in our own Project Gallery, couples are coming up with all sorts of cute ways to tell the world if it's a boy or a girl. Take, for instance, this Vintage-Inspired Gender Reveal Party, where guests were asked upon entry to either place a yellow bow in their …

First Starry Night Print

There are all sorts of mementos that we keep to commemorate the birth of our children. I still have a newspaper from the day my son was born. But wouldn't it be neat to be able to capture that first night that you held your baby in your arms? Indigo Night does the next best thing. You give them the date and the location your child was born, and they create a large poster print of the way the stars and the moon appeared that night. Indigo Night will be giving away a beautiful, framed night sky print to FIVE lucky Project Nursery readers. I love the idea of a little one gazing at their print as they fall asleep at naptime or bedtime. You can choose the landscape that is featured beneath the starry night sky from selections such as familiar skylines, treetops, rooftops, beaches, mountains, rivers, lakes...they can even make an illustration from your photograph. You can also add words to the print—whether it be a special message from you, a famous quote or a line from a favorite book or poem, your child is sure to cherish this special memento. WIN IT! Five lucky Project Nursery readers will win a framed Child's First Starry Night print from Indigo Night ($119 each). HOW TO ENTER: Visit Indigo Night for some message ideas, and let us know what message you might put on your print in a comment below. Contest ends Friday, July 13th, 2012 at 11:59 PDT. Winners …

star fish baby blanket

Growing up in Massachusetts, my summer vacation was always in Cape Cod. My mother would pile my two sisters and me in the wood-paneled Plymouth Volare station wagon, and we'd head down to the famed arm-shaped peninsula. Thinking of these trips to the Cape with my mother and sisters always makes me happy. Right now as I type this post, I'm in my weekly rental on my yearly summer trip to my beloved Cape Cod, and I thought it would be fun to look at ways to bring the beach into the nursery. Take a gander at the treasures I uncovered below. Many hours were spent hunting for seashells, or the rare find—a piece of silken, tumbled sea glass. I would always imagine where these tiny pieces of glass came from; maybe they were from old pirate ships or foreign lands! This sea glass lamp has that smooth, almost powdery texture that I love about sea glass. Its shape is elegant, and the color is a magical, oceanic green-blue. This amazing white coral chandelier is a great statement piece for a beach-themed nursery. The great thing about this light fixture is it can easily be moved into other areas of the home. I was blown away to find these striking sea shell and jelly fish prints on the real treasure chest of Etsy! Alganet is a wonderful online shop that has a myriad of amazing sea life prints in a dazzling array of colors. Their prices are wonderful—the examples below are …
