Like many second-time moms, I wasn’t sure if I needed to add any baby products to my arsenal. My loot that I labored over when first pregnant still felt new and fresh and was barely three years old! However, the baby product world never stops innovating (thank goodness!). Here are my favorite baby products that I still absolutely loved second-go-’round, and what items I am so glad we added.
Side-Snap Onesies. I will always do my best to avoid tugging a onesie over the head of a little newborn. That’s why a quality collection of side-snap onesies will forever be my go-to. Favorites include these from L’oved Baby and these.
Easy-to-Clean Car Seat. Baby brother is a card-carrying member of the happy spitter club. I jokingly say that I live in the Splash Zone, it’s that bad. The Nanotex fabric on our Britax B-Safe Ultra is ultra easy to clean, it’s such a timesaver! Spills wipe right off, and it repels stains so well that nine months in, it still looks brand new! Not to mention, Britax is our family’s car seat brand of choice thanks to their superior dedication to infant and child safety.
Functional and Supportive Momiform. The ProBump Band was my lifeline all throughout pregnancy, and their post-partum leggings brought the love home for good. The BaoBei Sculpt and Recovery postpartum legging blew my mind. You don’t truly know high-waisted support until you wiggle into these leggings. Paired with their bralette and sweatshirt (both great for nursing), I had a go-to uniform that was ideal for healing, nursing, resting and being active.
Lovevery Play Gym and Play Kits. Set all fears of in-your-face baby toys competing with your home decor out of your mind. The Lovevery Play Gym and collection of toys from their Play Kits are nothing but beautiful. An ideal color palette, modern prints and patterns, top-notch quality, and functionality that is far above the rest. Their collection creates a complete set-up of all you need to help baby learn, explore, and play from their first days through their first birthday. Set up a subscription for their play kits and they will send new developmentally appropriate toys for your baby every two to three months. Seriously, they only toys you need!
Goumi Mitts and Zutano Socks. Nothing else stays on the teeny tiny hands and feet of little babies like this combination. One pair of GoumiBaby Mitts and a few pairs of Zutano socks are all you need.
Ollie Swaddle. Game changer!!! This is my personal favorite swaddle. The material is phenomenally stretchy, and soft (similar to an athletic material), but the stay-put power of the extra large hook and loop closure is what sends this swaddle soaring to the top of my must-have list. I have nothing bad to say about this, except I wish we had purchased two!
Leacho Podster. This was a fantastic spot to perch our baby boy between cuddles and nap times. Plus, the gentle incline is helpful for sufferers of reflux.
Diaper Caddy. Diapers, wipes, burp cloths and spare clothes will find their way into the living room and/or master bedroom no matter what. Keep the essentials neat, organized and within arm’s reach with this attractive diaper caddy.
Organic Perineal Balm. The ultimate relief when recovering from a vaginal delivery. This balm soothed from day one through full healing. Pack this in your hospital bag! Seriously!!
Baby Nightgowns. Sweet options for nighttime wear, these gowns help midnight diaper changes be as quick and easy as possible. This option is super easy to get on and off, while this collection is just as simple and comes in the softest and stretchiest printed and solid fabrics with an adorable knot detail.
Boppy ComfyFit Carrier. Blending the lightweight softness of a wrap carrier with the durability and structure of a soft-shell carrier, this is my favorite carrier. I never left home without it, and my baby was comfortable and snug from day one and beyond. My favorite feature is the ease of use. I can put this carrier on completely by myself in just a few minutes in any situation. Giving me the confidence to get out and bring baby along is one of the best things that a product can give you.
Swaddle Blankets. Again, not all swaddle blankets are created equal. For my fall/winter baby, I looked for a swaddle blanket with a bit of weight that was also so soft, exceptionally made, and available in the most perfect array of colors.
Vava Night Light. I tell everyone about this night light. We even brought it to the hospital when I gave birth! This compact night light emits a lovely warm glow (or bright white) in varying brightness settings that make it perfectly customizable for night nursing sessions, diaper changes, storytime and beyond. I love how easily it turns on, off, and adjusts and that I don’t have to have my phone to make it work. It’s also wireless so bringing it to and from the diaper changing table at night was super handy.
Nursing Timer App. There are plenty of baby apps on the market. I used this one with my firstborn and was excited to see it was still up and running for this baby! It’s simple, to-the-point and an amazing way to track feedings, record nursing sessions, and log diaper changes. Bonus, you can export the information if you ever need it for a doctor.
Promptly Journal. The sweetest place to log memories, stats, and feelings from baby’s days in the womb all the way until their 18th birthday. Not to mention, these journal-style baby books are so gorgeous, we leave our set out as tabletop decor.
Taking Cara Babies Sleep Course. This is my second baby, what new is there to learn?! Well, the Taking Cara Babies courses blew my mind with baby sleep information, routines, and new tips to help babies learn to soothe and sleep so comfortably and restoratively. I highly recommend taking this course when baby is at least 4 weeks old.
Wipeable Non-Porous Changing Pad. Just say no to extra fabric that you have to wash. Changing pads that are wipeable and non-porous make me feel like a mom of the future. We had this changing pad with our first born and it remains a must-have day in and day out!
Tubby Todd All Over Cream. We’ve had our battles with sensitive and eczema-prone skin, but nothing soothes and heals faster like this all over cream. I love how natural the ingredients are and I feel super comfortable lathering it all over my baby’s face, arms, legs, and well…anywhere!
Backpack Diaper Bag. Hands-free is the only way to be. Look for deep side bottle pockets, spacious front zipper pouch, comfortable straps in your favorite style.
Baby Monitor. Would you believe that we didn’t have a baby monitor with our first? We used a wifi system that only connects to our phones. While I love that technology, and we continue to use it, you just cannot beat the comfort that a handheld monitor brings. Forget toggling between apps, I love the convenience of glancing over at the monitor while baby is sleeping to check in on him.
Some products/samples were received, but all opinions are my own.
