Today we are touring a nursery designed by Liz Eidelman for her brand new baby girl, Indie! We love that the floral nursery branched off with a less traditional color palette, demonstrating that you can go girly girl without defaulting to pink. Liz is a lifestyle blogger who shares affordable fashion tips as well as her journey into motherhood and more. I bet we’re going to see a lot more of adorable little Indie on her instagram feed as well. Be sure to follow along and cheer on this new mama into motherhood. Thank you, Liz, for sharing this space with us!
Where did you pull inspiration for your nursery design?
I started with the statement wall. I knew I didn’t want a classically pink or purple space, but I didn’t want it to be “gender neutral” either—I wanted it to be feminine! So I went with a natural and metallic floral patterned wallpaper that I found at Anthropologie. From there, I kept it earthy with wood-toned furniture, woven textiles, and lots of animals to keep things fun and whimsical!
What part of the design process did you enjoy the most?
There are a few accent pieces that I actually made myself, and I’m really proud that I was able to incorporate them into my design. I took classes at a local DIY studio where I made the “In a field of roses…she is a wildflower” art on two wooden planks. I kept it simple with lots of negative space to really draw the eye to the quote amidst the busy wallpaper. I also made the chunky knit blanket that’s draped over the recliner at the same DIY studio! It felt great to create some things for my girl while she was still in the womb.
What is your favorite part or detail in your nursery?
It’s so hard to choose! I mostly just love how it’s all come together, but I have to give a special shoutout to Indie’s gorgeous felt pom pom mobile because it’s so unique and really reiterates my desire to create a space that’s beautiful and fun without screaming “BABY STUFF.” This room fits in with the rest of my house, and pieces like the mobile helped to create that vibe.

What is one thing that you would tell other parents to consider when starting their own nursery design project?
Start with something. Whether that be a color scheme or a theme or even a piece of accent furniture that you’ve been eying for months—if you start with a “constant,” you’ll be able to tie everything else in to match that.
