Bow WOW Meow! Throw the Purrfect Puppy and Kitten Paw-ty!

I’ve got a brand new birthday party theme to share with you guys today! I’m really excited to show you all the designs and details from my daughter’s 6th birthday party, which was a puppy and kitten theme! In case you couldn’t tell, my kids are DESPERATE for a pet, so we’re buying time by throwing one of them a puppy and kitten themed party instead (please cross your fingers for me that this works!)

Bow Wow Meow! It's a Purr-fect Pawty!

In all seriousness, my-oh-my what an adorably cute theme for a kids birthday party this is! It’s perfect for any age. What kid (or adult) wouldn’t want to snuggle some cuddly kittens and precious puppies? It’s also great for both boys and girls, which can be a tricky thing to master when throwing parties for little ones! I hope you’ll enjoy some eye candy in the following photos of Ariella’s Puppy and Kitten 6th Birthday Paw-ty!

Puppy and Kitten themed party is great for all ages!

First off, the invitations—I designed these puppy and kitten themed invitations that featured cats and dogs saying “Bow Wow Meow!” Aren’t they purr-fect?

Next, let’s take a look at the table decor, which was the genesis of my color scheme for this party. I found the PURR-FECT dog bone shaped dog bowls and knew the kids would love to eat food out of these. They went bananas over it! Plus, the colors were amazing, so I decided to go with these three colors for the party color scheme: coral, aqua, and bright yellow.

Set the tables with REAL dog bowls!

Giant dog bones, rolled up newspapers, balls of yarn, and ceramic dogs (from TJ Maxx) that I spray painted to match my party colors served as table centerpieces.

The giant rawhide dog bones also doubled as weights for my paw-print balloon bouquets!

The mantel decoration also featured more of the same items but also included Ariella’s name in yarn-wrapped letters to match the party colors. I won’t lie, wrapping these letters in yarn took an incredibly long time! Consider yourself lucky if your child’s name has only three letters! I also purchased small air-inflatable balloon letters to spell out the phrase “Bow Wow Meow,” a phrase that I carried through the party on other additional signage. The balloons came in gold, but yet again my handy dandy spray paint came to the rescue to color them in my party colors!

The food buffet table featured lots of yummy treats, and of course, more dog bowls. I designed this food buffet printable sign for the “fancy feast.”

It's a fancy feast! Bone appetit!

We had dog bowls filled with cream cheese for bagels, cat bowls with goldfish crackers, and cute little mice wedges made out of cheese!

Over top of the food buffet table, I hung more balls of yarn. My insider tip on making these balls of yarn is to start with a good-sized Styrofoam ball first! This will eliminate the number of times you have to wrap the yarn around the ball, making less work for yourself!

The cake table—a party favorite! I designed this cat and dog print backdrop to display behind the cake table. I love the simplicity of it, and also the graphic color-blocking.

Next up, the cake, which I happen to think is the cat’s meow! I worked with Liz from Les Pop Sweets to create the perfect cake for Ariella’s party!

I also used a similar design to her invitation and created this personalized welcome sign to greet our guests!

And this printable litter box sign directed everyone to the bathroom!

All guests were able to “adopt a pet” before they left the party. Each cat or dog came with its own name, carrying case, and even some real food! Find similar stuffed animals here!

For party activities, the kids were able to make a collar for their pet they were adopting. Various colors of pipe cleaners as well as many different beads were available on the craft table!

Of course, all guests had fun cuddling up with some pretty adorable puppies!

I would also like to know where you purchased your stuffed animals for the “adopt a pet”. LOVE the theme idea, the only word my daughter uses consistently is kitty cat so we will be using this theme for her second birthday next month and your post is full of great ideas, thanks for sharing!
