So when I was pregnant with my now four-month-old daughter, I crossed every finger and toe that this…this would be my baby that didn’t spit up. Her older brothers had me well acquainted with the world of baby spit up (every single meal, folks), and I thought naively to myself, “Well, maybe because she’s a girl and they were boys, this baby will be different.” I sure was wrong, but you know what? I love every inch of those babies, spit up and all. But I think it’s safe to say that I have tried my fair share of bibs. I’m happy to report back to you, which are my favorite bibs and what particular occasion they work best for.
Burt’s Bees Baby. These are great. Super absorbent with lots of coverage. Because you can slip them over baby’s head they are especially nice for brand new babies when fiddling with a snap behind baby’s neck can be tricky. P.S. Burt’s Bees also sells my very favorite burp cloths. They are the most absorbent I’ve tried. They are more expensive, but I so wish I had stocked up on these rather than purchasing more of the inexpensive kind.
Aden + Anais. You probably already know this loved and trusted brand. I love their silky snap bibs. They have great coverage, and my daughter loves to squish it up in her hands because it’s so soft. It’s not at all bulky. Their bandana bibs offer more absorption because they have multiple layers of muslin and are great for drool.
Snap Bibs and Bandana Bib
Copper Pearl. These bandana bibs are for your fashionista. There are so many great prints and the bandana shape won’t cover so much of baby’s outfit. I also LOVE how cozy these bibs are. They have a super soft backing that not only adds more absorption power, but also adds warmth that is perfect for these cooler fall days. P.S. Copper Pearl also has other products like their beloved 5-in-1 multi-use covers in their gorgeous prints.
All of these cloth bibs will continue to be great help to catch all the drool that starts when baby is cutting teeth even once baby finally gets his or her spit up under control. In fact, this may be the first time you mamas of non-spitty babies need bibs!
However, when I start serving solid foods, I like to break out the wipeable bibs. Believe me, you’ll be washing cloth bibs left and right whereas these can be quickly washed and rinsed right in the sink when you are cleaning baby’s dishes. We got a bunch of new wipeable, silicone bibs in The Project Nursery Shop that are just adorable. They can even go in the dishwasher for a deep clean!
Any other moms of spitty babies out there? What is your best tool for keeping your baby and your shoulders dry?
Some samples were received, but all opinions are my own.
