Iconic Modern Stroller Design—Eames Would Surely Approve.

Cybex’s newest stroller to hit the US market, Priam, is simply stunning through and through, and we’re here to prove it! It’s not often that I write reviews, but when I learned that a stroller’s design was inspired by the mid-century modern architecture and iconic furniture designs of Ray and Charles Eames, I had to see it for myself and brought 7-month-old Emmy along for the ride, literally.

The Priam’s clean lines, chrome base and eye-catching fabrics make up an immediate design win—as in, knocked it out of the park—but it’s important to know that there’s a lot more to this luxury stroller than just good looks.

Let’s start from the beginning. I genuinely appreciate having choices. We’ve lived in the city, the suburbs and on both coasts, yet with every move, I’ve opted to update my stroller based on my surroundings. I can honestly tell you that my first mac-daddy NYC stroller was not at all compatible for a life in LA where much of my time was spent jumping in and out of the car with two little ones in tow. Because you build your Priam much like you’d select options for a new car, you can customize the features to your preference. For example, the configuration options of the Priam allow you to choose from three different wheel types depending on your needs: light, trekking or all-terrain. I opted for trekking to best tackle my current country lifestyle. And when the winter gets really tough, you’ll find me sledding down my neighborhood streets. Yes, you read that correctly, there is option to buy stroller skis.

Next, I had to select my choice of seat—the 2-in-1 Light Seat or Lux Seat. I went with Lux because as an experienced mom of three, I think a flat recline is a must. When it came to narrowing down my color selection of the denim-like fabric, I was torn, but ultimately “Autumn Gold” (pictured here) beat out “Hawaii.” And speaking of beauty, the leather-like bumper is like the cherry on top. I know what you’re thinking, my job is miserable, eh?

Underneath, the storage basket is readily accessible with its magnetic closure, and while it’s not as large as what I am accustomed to, I actually prefer the fact that it’s enclosed. I often store blankets and swaddles below, and when a stroller basket is exposed, I worry that everything inside collects germs while my stroller skims just above the city streets. I apologize if I’ve made you freak out about this now, too.

Where did Emmy go? 

Oh, that’s just the expandable XXL sun canopy with UVP50+ sun protection when unzipped. I just love a large canopy. And because the seat is at table height, we enjoy cruising straight into restaurants whenever possible.

You should also know that the handlebar expands to be quite tall if needed, the one-handed fold is a no-brainer and the conveniently positioned brake is flip-flop friendly. Parents also have the ability to add a matching Carry Cot and Aton Q carseat for a complete 3-in-1 system.

Lastly, I should probably mention that the reversible stroller seat can, of course, face forward, but Emmy’s still so little, and I can’t stop looking at her—and now her gorgeous stroller too.
