Warm summer evenings are the perfect time to host a backyard movie night party! It makes for such a fun neighborhood gathering or birthday party theme. Nothing goes better with your favorite flick than popcorn and candy, so today we’re sharing some inspiration to help you set up your own movie night concession stand.
The guest of honor will feel extra special with his or her name in lights! We created a special initial marquee using a 24″ paper mache letter from a local craft store. We trimmed off the front of the letter with an X-Acto knife and spray painted it lime green. Then it’s time to dig out your holiday decor! We chose silver glass ornaments and hot glued them inside the letter. This is a quick project that can be hung in the birthday star’s room after the party!
At the concession stand, guests can help themselves to ice cold lemonade served in mason jars and fill up baskets with yummy, gourmet popcorn. This recipe for Funfetti Cake Batter Popcorn is always a hit! Movie-goers can also choose from a selection of classic movie candy, and of course cupcakes are a must for any birthday celebration.
Arrange the movie viewing area with outdoor chairs, pillows and blankets, and you’re all set!
When the sun goes down, the backyard movie night magic begins! Everyone will cozy up for a great summer celebration under the stars.

I love this marquee initial idea! How did you create the background that it is attached to? I’d love to do this for our outdoor movie night in 2 weeks!

I’d also like to know how you created the background attached to the table. Was it posterbord or wood? And how were you able to make it stand? (It won’t show me the comment replies)

I cannot see the comments either. I am asking the same question about the background attaching to the table. How did you do that?
