Pop & Lolli Iconic Cultural World Map

I recently had the pleasure of getting up-close and personal with the high-quality fabric wall decals from Pop & Lolli. There are so many beautiful designs that I had a hard time choosing which I would review, but in the end, I couldn’t pass up the Iconic Cultural World Map for my four-year-old son’s room. It is such a gorgeous piece with lots of interesting details to discover. Every time I look at it, I notice something new.

After reading Pop & Lolli’s easy-to-follow FAQs, I realized that their decals can be easily cut into smaller sections. While the map is meant to be able to go on the wall as one piece (two pieces that are lined up if you get the largest size), I decided to cut the decal up around the separate pieces to make use of my son’s blue walls as a sort of ocean effect. Now my son can peel and re-stick some of the smaller elements too. I know that pirate ship is going to make its way around all the continents soon!

I, of course, made things a little more labor intensive by cutting the shapes first, but that’s purely up to you. I love the versatility of being able to use the decal whichever way you want. If I had been using it on a white wall, I probably would have kept the piece whole because the artwork is just gorgeous against the stark white background.

Peeling and sticking the decals is really very easy. A couple of times I moved too quickly and the decal stuck to itself, but like the directions say, I tried not to panic and gently tugged the piece apart just fine. If you are applying a larger decal to the wall, I highly recommend two people work on it. Because I was working in smaller chunks, I was able to to do it by myself.

The fabric decals themselves seem really strong. Even while pulling them apart, I was never concerned that I might rip it. They adhered nicely to the wall with very little effort on my part.

I’m so pleased with the graphic impact the decal makes in my son’s room. It has the effect of a mural with none of the effort. After seeing it, my son said, “This is the first piece of my art collection.”

Cool and cute. And I think it’s great that it’s not a repetitive pattern or whatever. It really makes you want to go look at it closely and see the little details.
