The State Of PN: Our 1,000th Post!

Out of the blue, we looked at our published post count tonight and said, “Holy cow! Our next post is number 1,000. What a milestone.”

As two busy moms, we are incredibly proud of what we’ve done, who we’ve become and where we plan to go. If you don’t know our story, we’re long time friends Melisa & Pam who thought it could be fun to start a design project together. We mentioned this to our husbands and then ran off to a tapas bar, kid-free for a brainstorming session. A couple of glasses of red wine later, we wrote a note to our friends and family introducing our exciting, new blogging mission: To assist design stumped parents and parents-to-be everywhere! Now simply known as ProjectNursery.com, we can’t help but chuckle when we look back at that somewhat random announcement.

With “Blogging For Dummies” in hand, we enhanced a basic template using the blogger platform and made our first Godaddy domain purchase (to this day, Melisa’s husband takes credit for the name “Project Nursery”) and in 2008, Austin’s nursery kicked off our launch. Some of our very first posts talked about lucite trays for organizing the changing station (which are still very hip by the way) and designer wall hooks for hooded baby towels.  Our first followers were a few mom blogger friends we made along the way. Sad to say, many of them had “taken a break” or given up 6 months in. Others of course became wildly successful and we are honored to now call many of them our design experts and friends!

Over the years, we’ve learned a boatload of invaluable lessons like how to be smarter, stronger and more vocal; who to trust or who not to trust – all wonderful yet sometimes painful part of growing a business. This year however has been by far the most exciting and exhausting. We’ve taken the time to think long and hard as to how we can better serve you our readers and our community of loyal, design enthused parents.

With that, it brings us great pride to announce the addition of our new Editor, Beth Williams and new right hand, Kristin Saulsbury. That’s right, we are growing. Did you know that we also have 3 developers spanning the globe, working feverishly to help us roll out the new and improved Project Nursery + Project Gallery in just a few weeks time? And that’s just the beginning!

Combined with our team of (soon to be 10) top notch design experts and exciting new partnerships we wanted to use this 1,000th posting opportunity to say thanks. Thank you for supporting us with your passion for design, comments, likes, tweets and uploads! We love what we do and we want to keep doing it better thanks to you. Good things are to come, we promise.

If we were to make a cake and blow out the candles for this celebration, our wish would be that you continue to enjoy Project Nursery and the next 1,000+ posts we put out there for your daily dose of children’s design inspiration!

xo,
Melisa & Pam
