Could it perhaps be baby fever? Hmmm…I know when I start looking for things that I would use in a nursery, that usually means I want to design another nursery and then that leads to me getting preggers! Well, no baby news to report, but I have plenty of friends that are momma’s-to-be and are in need of some design advice. After all, that’s why you’re here, right?
My latest nursery crush has to be the “bunting”. What is a bunting?, you ask. It’s a lovely little decorative collage of decorative paper or fabric strung along ribbon, trim or twine. This little banner type, pennant, thingy is frequently used in party decor and has made its way into the nursery. It is a GREAT and inexpensive way to add color, pattern and visual stimulation to your new little nest. Plus it makes for a great DIY project but, if you are not up for making it yourself, there are plenty of crafty ladies on Etsy that could whip one up for you.

See what I mean? Totally adorable, right! Hang them on the front side of the crib, as a focal point above the crib or even a mini bunting draped on a painted canvas above the changing table (Oooh I see a little DIYcoming soon from me). The possibilities are endless. Have you ever made one or used one to decorate? Love to hear feedback…please do share!

I made a fabric bunting to go over the crib. I used gray polka-dot fabric to match the room and then appliqued the name “Adelaide” onto the triangles on one side, and “I love you” on the other side, in case we ever want to flip it over!

Great idea, and what a fabulous way to recycle some of the discontinued fabric samples I’ve acquired. Love it!!

I’ve made many of these now…friend’s birthdays, their kids’ birthdays (then get used as room decor), my kids’ birthdays (which get used again next year), all sorts of holidays. I use my cricut and photoshop to design them depending on the occasion. love, love, love!

LOVE it!!

Thank you for the tutorial. I really think that these buntings would be greater if you put letters that spell your child’s name on them. I love Christie Chase’s buntings. BTW, is bunting a new word?

I never thought that buntings would make a great nursery accessory! I made one for my daughter’s party last year, and good thing I have it in the attic somewhere. Great idea here Rebecca!
