There’s a lot to love about this classic twin nursery. What struck us most is the gorgeous floor-to-ceiling wainscoting details. It adds a luxurious touch, and we especially love how it’s used to showcase the collection of art above the glider. Add in the sweet rattan bassinets, plush rug and soft blue gray paint color and this nursery overflows with cozy factor.
Andrea West, a luxury residential interior designer, designed this space for her second and third babies, twin boys Cyrus and Hayes. After years of designing for wonderful clients, Andrea is excited to be working on their personal home located in Utah. Be sure to follow along on her instagram to see all of her latest work. Thank you, Andrea, for sharing this nursery with us!
Where did you pull inspiration for your classic twin nursery design?
I was originally inspired by the rattan bassinets. I loved the timeless and elegant way they were designed and wanted to design an entire room around that feeling.
What part of the design process did you enjoy the most?
Because this was for my own boys, I enjoyed thinking of pieces they would enjoy and the way we would spend time with them in their space. As new parents, we all know how many hours we spend in the nursery, and I wanted to design a space that felt serene and peaceful.
What is your favorite part or detail in your nursery?
My favorite part of the nursery is easily the wall paneling and color-blocking paint color. Walls are such a large part of a space that is often underutilized, and I knew I wanted to add floor to ceiling wall paneling to add extra texture and detail to the design. It adds so much character and warmth to their room that we really enjoy.
What is one thing that you would tell other parents to consider when starting their own classic twin nursery design project?
I always recommend starting with thinking through how you will live in the space. Go through your routine and map out the best way to place your items to make the functional part of the space easy. Then find pieces to fit your needs that are beautiful and fit the design style. And for nurseries especially, you will want to invest in quality pieces of furniture that will be comfortable and lasting.

Hi There – Do you have a link/info for the rug?
Beth
Hi Clarissa! The designer did not provide the information for the rug, but this rug (affiliate link) looks very similar to me. Good luck in your search!

Amazing! Are you able to share the plans used for the floor-to-ceiling wainscoting?
Rachel
Hello! Where is the black rocking horse from?! Can’t find it anywhere online!
Thanks so much
Beth
Hi Rachel! The rocking horse was from Crate + Kids (affiliate link). But even at time of publishing this room feature, it was no longer available. You might be able to find someone selling it used though! I believe it was called Modern Heirloom Rocking Horse if that helps with your search! Good luck!
