Today we’re touring a sophisticated surfer girl nursery designed by Tay Fusco, of Tay Fusco Design. We love the combination of feminine details, boho accents and coastal themes in this space. After over ten years in the fashion industry designing contemporary womenswear for major department and top e-retailers, Tay brought her love for mixing textures and patterns into her own interior design company, TFD.
That eye for interesting combinations of pattern and texture is evident in this nursery where many elements are combined yet the design remains cohesive. You can follow more of her design work over on her instagram account. This surfer girl nursery is one of her latest projects, and we can’t wait to see more children’s design from her!
Where did you pull inspiration for your nursery design?
My client was born and raised on Long Island and grew up going out east to Montauk every weekend to catch a wave, travel and explore.
With a new addition to their family on the way, he and his wife wanted us to create a nursery that incorporated our youthful, quirky, and playful aesthetic, but also represented their family’s whimsy and wanderlust attitude.
What part of the design process did you enjoy the most?
Conceptualizing and planning the space, also scouring vendors for unique vintage finds to set the room apart and make it the most special and unique space in their home.
What is your favorite part or detail in your nursery?
The wallpaper definitely is the star of the show for me and the surfboard, of course.
What is one thing that you would tell other parents to consider when starting their own nursery
design project?
Make it a space your little one can grow into and love for years to come. Don’t hold back! It’s a kids room—the motto “more is more” definitely thrives here!

Where can I find the pillows in the crib? They are adorable!

Are you able to provide a more specific link or a similar option for the curtains? I would love them in my nursery but the link takes me to the general curtains page and I can’t nail down which ones they are, if they’re even available. Such a beautiful blue!

@Markelle, did you figure this out? I had the same question, I love these!

Hello! Do you have a link or know where the ottoman is from?
Beth
Hi Kelsie,
We don’t have the source of the ottoman. I did find this one (affiliate link) that is similar but definitely has more black in it.
