Bright Pastels in the Nursery—How Cheerful!

With Easter right around the corner, I thought I’d focus on the colors of spring, and nothing is more cheerful than a palette of bright pastels in the nursery. It’s one of my top nursery color trends for 2015, and I’m already starting to see these beautiful hues pop up in the gallery. We all know by now that coral is trending in nurseries in a big way, but add a colorful twist with shades of pink, aqua, yellow, turquoise and blue, and you’ll be on your way to a cheerful and bright nursery design.

Bright pastels aren’t just for girls. I love the the watercolor effect of the stenciled accent wall in this gorgeous nursery. The use of color throughout the entire nursery gives the space a vintage feel, and the combination of color and texture adds a modern touch.

A great way to easily bring in a variety of colors is with bright pastel crib bedding and textile decor—think throw pillows, changing pad covers and other accent pieces that can add that extra pop of color to your nursery design. I love a printed accent pillow on a simple solid colored glider.

In my opinion, there’s no such thing as too much color, and that’s awesome when you’re looking for decor pieces to coordinate with your pastel colored nursery masterpiece. I’m obsessing over these colored dot decals from The Land of Nod—gold dots are everywhere, but these pink and aqua ones are almost just as amazing!

When you’re working on a gallery wall, look for bright prints in whimsical fonts. This pastel print from Pottery Barn Kids is darling!

An oddly shaped piece like this appropriately-named Horrible Adorable baby deer would also be perfect for a gallery wall. She’s so ugly she’s cute!

Don’t forget the floors! Do you have pink on the walls? Then add a little blue on the floor! Or yellow, or green, or…anything! Mix and match colors and prints—the bright pastel nursery trend is perfect for an eclectic mix! I love these bold printed area rugs.
