Real Luxury with Faux Fur Fabulocity!

This winter has already been SO COLD—some days I’m sure I will turn right into a Sam-sicle! Coming home to a cozy space after being out and about in this frigid weather is just the remedy for grown-ups and babies alike, and to me, that means faux fur!

As a child, I remember my mom getting a mink for a special birthday gift. At six years old, all I saw was my beautiful mother, wrapped in a glamorous shiny fur. However, as a kid I didn’t put two and two together about where my mom’s new coat came from and the cost to the animals. Don’t worry—I’m not going to get all preachy, but here’s the deal. I love texture and all things fluffy, furry and luxurious, but personally, I can’t get past the harsh reality of choosing real fur rather than faux.

We can’t control the world, but we can control our choices. This is my truth: as a designer, I refuse to use real fur in any of my work. I am proud to share this value with other great designers like Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Betsy Johnson. This winter I am so grateful we can all indulge in the fluff with the look, feel and warmth of fur sans the cruelty towards our animal friends. Here are some of my favorite faux fur nursery accents.

Cozy up to this faux fur rug. It adds gorgeous texture and shape to this boho play tent, making it the perfect place to hunker down and look at a good picture book.

I love a good pouf—who doesn’t? This faux fur pouf adds shape and dimension, and it would be great as an ottoman for your tootsies as you rock baby to sleep in the nursery. This can also be used to pick up over your head and throw directly at your significant other when he or she doesn’t share the diapering duties or bring out the recycling.

Add a splash of pure fluffy fabulocity with a faux fur pillow cover. The color is a chic gray that would look amazing with the rustic wood vibe that’s very on trend right now in the nursery!
