Baby Shower Mocktails: Cocktails for Those Who Can’t!

I have several mom friends who gave birth in just the past month, and throughout their pregnancies, I think the thing I heard from them most is that they were really craving an adult beverage. When baby showers come around for moms that crave the forbidden, it’s always fun to have something you know they’ll enjoy like a Baby Shower Mocktail! Pretend cocktails are better than no cocktails, right?

And for expecting moms stuck at a party filled with adult beverages, it’s kind to offer them something fruity and fun that they can put an umbrella in and pretend for a moment. Bonus—they’re super delicious, and it’s not just the mom who is going to love them!

So you can be nice to your favorite pregnant mama, perhaps at her shower, with one of these two baby shower mocktails for you to choose from: the Baby Mama and the Sparkling Sunrise. The real key to the mocktail is not in the unique mixture of juices themselves (although taste is important!); the key to a successful and well-received mocktail is in the presentation. Pull out some stemmed barware, and devise a beautiful garnish—you eat and drink with your eyes first. Creating a dream in a glass is a great way to make a good drink taste even better.

Mocktails can be made up in pitchers, in which case, just quadruple the recipes, or you can be fancy and mix them up individually in cocktail shakers.

Baby Mama Baby Shower Mocktail. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour 1 cup cranberry juice, 1/2 cup apricot juice and 1/2 cup pineapple juice. Shake well until drink is ice cold, and strain into a wine glass or martini glass (there will be extras!). Don’t forget a fruity garnish!

Sparkling Sunrise Baby Shower Mocktail. Fill a large wine glass with ice. Fill halfway with sprite, then the remainder with orange juice. Top with a shot of grenadine. The grenadine should sink to the bottom, giving your drink a “sunrise” effect. Float strawberries on the top to finish it off.
