Operation Shower: Birdies for the Brave Event

Operation Shower is my favorite charity to work with. At the end of November, I was very excited to be able to make the trip up to Ponte Vedra Beach and help out with another event and show how thankful we are for all our military families and what they do for us. This particular baby shower was held as part of the Birdies for the Brave event that honored our military members. I hear a former President and Secretary of State even showed up as part of the festivities! Sad to say they missed showing up for a slice of cake at the shower.

The decorator’s table challenge made for some truly inspired tablescapes and lots of eye candy to look at. Graphics were provided by the talented Kori Clark at Paper and Pigtails in a “Vintage Military” theme.

These stunning tables were designed by (in order) Pineapple Post, the PGA Tour, MIA Styling and Fanciful Events. They were all completely amazing to see in person—so many thoughtful little details in all of the designs!

My table used vintage military buttons as its main accent. I painted the gold chargers and added a vinyl anchor for nautical flair. Buds, Etc. and Contemporary Cakery were fabulous and provided the florals and baked good favors. You can see more pictures of all these tables in this photo album.

The dessert table by Half Baked – The Cake Blog was completely stunning! She made each and every one of the labels by hand.

Every mom left this shower with a brand new crib and dresser from Young America along with tons of other pretty and useful goodies.

But the reason we all come out, donate and put so much work into these events is for this—these smiles and these tears of joy from these moms make every minute worth it!

If you’d like to donate to Operation Shower and help provide one of these deserving mothers with a baby shower box, click over to the Operation Shower website.

I’m sure the different tablescapes are such fun to look at! I think that one with the globes and the bike is very interesting.

I’m sure it’s a great feeling to be a part of something like this. A charity event where you get to do something you really love doing. Keep it up, ladies!

Kudos to the members of the military and thanks to their wives who gladly share their husbands with the country. And oh, kudos to you at PN and to all those who lent a hand for this event.
