Fabulous Finds from the NY Gift Show

I love attending the NY gift show to get a sneak peek at all the fun fare that will be heading to my favorite shops in the upcoming seasons. So this year, I decided to share some inside scoop with you all on the hot design trends. Here are some new and noteworthy finds that I hope you love as much as I do.

Stumbling upon oomph was a fun surprise. Not only are they made in the USA, but they are made in Connecticut, fifteen minutes from my showroom. I fell head over heels for their tini tables—a great accent that won’t take up lots of room.

Bungalow 5 is one of my favorite new modern-vibe designers. Although they have some great dressers for girls, this new Paramount collection, available in white or navy, is definitely going to be a bestseller for boys.

Overall, I wasn’t blown away by the lighting selections this year, but I did like these vintage feeling pendants from Luna Bella. I also thought the mirrors shown would look adorable in a wall collage.

As far as toys went, there was definitely a whole slew of new and exciting prospects—laughing animals that rolled around on the floor, floating nemos and tons of sparkle (think glitter tattoos—you heard it hear first!). Since I’m an admirer of all things classic, I was more enamored by Uncle Goose, a maker of classic wooden blocks. They had foreign language blocks, special needs blocks and decorative blocks—A for truly adorable.

Remember most of these products have not hit the market yet and may not even be featured on the company websites I have linked yet, but there’s no harm in scoping things out early! Stay tuned for Sam Simon‘s favorite picks from the show!

I love wooden toys and wooden blocks, too! These are the sort of toys that I remember from my childhood, and every time I see wooden toys, no matter how “modern” they have become in terms of colors and design, I always feel a bit of nostalgia.

Those Uncle Goose blocks are wonderful. I checked their site and they have Braille alphabet and Braille Math blocks. The foreign language blocks are really great, too.

Do you have any idea if there are gift shows like this one outside of New York?
