Rebecca’s Top 5 Baby Gifts for Second-Time Mamas

It’s no secret that I’ve had a baby shower with each of my pregnancies. All three showers were so incredibly different but oh-so-special. I think the etiquette of not having a second or third shower for same sex babies is a thing of the past, and each pregnancy should be celebrated. Besides, it gives you a chance to get together with your closest gal-pals and eat some fabulous food. So what do you give to the mama-to-be that has all of the major necessities? Here are a few of my favorite baby gifts for a second baby.

New hooded towels and washcloths are always nice. For my last baby, I received a Nursery Critter Wrap from Pottery Barn Kids that was monogrammed with Bennett’s name—super cute and personalized.

Another item that made my list are the muslin swaddle blankets from aden + anais. One word…FABULOUS! These soft little treasures are great for many uses such as a swaddle blanket, burp cloth, stroller cover, nursing cover, car seat liner, etc. Pair these blankets with the sweet book “Swaddle Love” on the techniques of swaddling, and you have a perfect little gift set.

Third on my list are the totally lovable and adorable Huggybuddy’s by Gund. I have received two of these cozy little friends—one at my second shower that we named “Moo” and one at the third named “Lambie.” It is a blankie/stuffed animal that will become your baby’s instant BFF.

Know a few people that want to go in on a group gift and spoil the mama-to-be? How about a super darling and trendy diaper bag. Talk about a treat! The Berry Chiffon Cake by Petunia is all the sweetness without the calories.

Handmade gifts always top my list. These special gifts are some of the most treasured items I have received, especially some of the fabulous blankets that friends have knitted, crocheted or quilted for my mini men. Not crafty? Find a talented artisan on Etsy such as Adam’s Blankie; I am totally crushing on this handmade little lovey!

Well, there it is, a quick pick of some of my mama must-haves. Do you have a baby shower gift idea to swoon over? Tell us about it by leaving a comment below!

    Rebecca,

I love your views on celebrating each pregnancy and child. I only had a shower for my first and although my second is the same sex, it would of been nice to have gifts that were HERS.

One more product that I think would go especially well on your list is a BlowOut Blocker (www.blowoutblockercanada.webs.com). After the first child a mom knows too well about poop explosions and blowouts and this new product on the market helps to solve the stress and mess of blowouts while out running daily errands. Cleaning up a poopy baby is one thing, but cleaning up a poopy baby with a toddler on hand is even more stressful (I know, I’ve been there) :)

Thanks for sharing your list….I have two friends expecting their second this summer and I’ll look into your suggestions for them.

I think these are great gift to give. I own the featured set of Aden & Anais swaddle blankets and they are simply the best around and I highly recommend them to any mom, whether it’s her first or fifth child!
