Design Reveal: My Baby Girl’s Nursery

I have finally had a chance to get my nursery photographed! Today is the big reveal on Project Nursery.

The design started with an existing Netto Collection crib and changer that I used with my son. I had actually purchased the Serena & Lily Wren bedding years ago when I owned a children’s store, and I’d been storing it in the hopes of having a little girl. After coming from a family of four girls, my subconscious desires were answered! Since I have a boy already and have plenty of blue in my life, I wanted to pull another color out of the set. Green was too neutral and not feminine enough, so I chose a color palette based on the color peach. A small selection of my inspirational images are below:

I fell in love with the Ikat rug by Custom Cool after I saw it on a blog and had to have it. The colors did not work with my space, so we custom designed the color combination seen below. Artwork and photographs are a must in a child’s room. My sister Alexandra Frankel volunteered to create a custom canvas for above Patton’s bed. I sent her the inspirational images above as well as a photo of the bedding, and she created the masterpiece below. I absolutely LOVE it. After so many requests from my friends (and my clients), she has started her own studio.

The additional accessories and window treatments just fell into place. I have since added more framed gilt photographs of my little baby girl above the glider, and she, of course, has more toys in the room. For more photos and source information, visit the Project Gallery or my portfolio.

I think that it’s great to actually have your rugs custom designed. And it’s great that there are services now that allows you to do that. No more headaches and a rug that stands out like a sore thumb!
