Month: April 2012

In my last post, I shared all of my nursery projects. This week, I'm going to show where I am with my toddlers' room. When we were planning nursery #3, we kicked it into high gear to get started on the other two boys' shared room. You may remember the DIY toddler palette bed tutorial I shared, but not much else has taken place since. Now that things have settled down a tad, I thought it was time to get going on finishing my little surfers' paradise. I pinky swear when it is ALL complete, I will post the entire room design. Since the assembly of the beds, I have added a few things. 1. Painted craft letters 2. Ikea paper lantern turned hard-wired light fixture 3. Repurposed/repainted nursery decor 4. Decorative lanterns 5. Locker bins to hold homework and art projects   Oh, and we can't forget about the DIY swing shelf. So now here is my wish list to add some final touches. 1. Surfboard Plaque 2. Chevron Rug 3. Polished Nickel Pendant 4. Weathered Wood Beach Banner   Don't you just LOVE the Chevron Rug? That is a must! Now, I think the only thing missing is some paint detail on the wall. Have you come across some fab finds for your nursery or room design? Please share!

Thank you to all of our finalists and to all of our readers for voting! “Apple of Our Eye” Party by Bloom Designs Online Melanie, of Your Style Scout, says “The Apple of Our Eye theme birthday is one of the cutest I have seen in a long time! The apple stand with treats was such a creative, yet easy way to create a dessert table. And the colors are perfect for a little girl's 6th birthday. I also love the fabric garland; it's an easy and inexpensive way to spruce up a table." White trees are so popular in nursery design right now, and the coordinating bunting flags give a fun and whimsical feel to the room. Her “laugh” wall art is one of the best (and easiest) DIY projects I’ve seen! Love it!" Click Here for More Photos and Details   Interested in participating this April? My sister-in-law is expecting her first child later this year. One of her top priorities for the nursery is to find the perfect glider to cuddle with her new baby. When I had my eldest son seven years ago, there were few gliders to choose from. Mine was a cream colored, no-nonsense chair with zero personality. I donated it immediately after I stopped nursing. These are some of the beautifully designed and well-made chairs that make me swoon, and FYI, the cream colored chairs of today look ever so stylish. This Junior Alberto Winged Glider is a knockout—it definitely has the potential of graduating from nursery to grown up chair immediately. The Hayes Glider is roomy with plenty of space for snuggling as your child grows. Sold! The Roll Arm Rocker looks like an updated classic rocking chair. For an excellent price, the Poang Rocking Chair in Karlsro at Ikea is a steal. Dwell Studio's Savoy Glider takes a modern approach with lots of fabric options, including their trademark big dot pattern. Do you have any sourcing tips to share for gliders? I'd love to hear them and pass them along to the soon-to-be moms out in the blogosphere.
