Oh Glider, My You’ve Changed

My sister-in-law is expecting her first child later this year. One of her top priorities for the nursery is to find the perfect glider to cuddle with her new baby. When I had my eldest son seven years ago, there were few gliders to choose from. Mine was a cream colored, no-nonsense chair with zero personality. I donated it immediately after I stopped nursing. These are some of the beautifully designed and well-made chairs that make me swoon, and FYI, the cream colored chairs of today look ever so stylish.

This Junior Alberto Winged Glider is a knockout—it definitely has the potential of graduating from nursery to grown up chair immediately.

The Hayes Glider is roomy with plenty of space for snuggling as your child grows. Sold!

The Roll Arm Rocker looks like an updated classic rocking chair.

For an excellent price, the Poang Rocking Chair in Karlsro at Ikea is a steal.

Dwell Studio’s Savoy Glider takes a modern approach with lots of fabric options, including their trademark big dot pattern.

Do you have any sourcing tips to share for gliders? I’d love to hear them and pass them along to the soon-to-be moms out in the blogosphere.

the dwell studio is fabulous-especially for apartment living- it’s got such a small footprint- I have a similar chair from the 1970s that I want to recover- and it is wonderful for comfort and saving space.

Actually, the Q Collection is no longer being made….hasn’t been for a little while. Petit Nest has some really nice options, though. And I also love the Dwell Savoy.

I have always found all of these to be the most comfortable furniture options out there, have a baby or not — they are aesthetically pleasing, comfortable and just plain relaxing. I’m surprised they arent’ marketed to everyone. these are all great options.

Nice list of gliders you have there Johanna. Out of the 5 you’ve listed, the one that caught my eye is the Dwell Studio’s Savoy Glider. Looks simple, yet eye-catching. You should consider having a look at stork craft gliders too. They do have some amazing gliders in the market.
