Up, Up and Away Baby Shower

Travel-inspired parties have been making their way around the wedding circuit for a while now, and I thought it would be fun to bring it into the baby shower world.  This hot-air balloon invitation from Minted inspires a gender-neutral shower with a sweet, classic twist.

You can get very creative with your decorations to include hanging centerpieces that look like hot air balloons.  Made out of balloons and ribbon, you can color-coordinate this idea to your specific party!  Playing off the blue and green in the invitation, you can carry the color palette throughout the party….

The round shape of this carnation pomander centerpiece is the perfect compliment to our round hot air balloons.  These would be beautiful on tables or on either side of a dessert table or buffet!  Desserts can coordinate as well – green macaroons, icy blue cupcakes, white, fluffy marshmallows.  You can also incorporate other travel-inspired items into your table, such as vintage suitcases, postcards, etc.

A party with a “travel” theme surely is fun. I tried that last for my nephew’s birthday and incorporated his love for trains. I had a blast decorating. Next month I am trying out an around-the-world theme for a nine-year-old girl who loves books. I am very excited.

I like what they did what the balloons in the 2nd photo. Now I know that you can turn a simple balloon into something interesting by adding ribbons of different colors.
