Real Room: Bargain In Style

Oh how we love a savvy bargain hunter. To us bargain hunting is an art form. Not just about finding something on the cheap, more about having an eye for a piece of furniture, artwork or accessory that is unique and looks high end even when its not. San Francisco Mom Sarah chose a butterfly theme and added a few good bargain finds when decorating for her newborn baby girl Ansley.

What was your inspiration for the room?

I was inspired by the “All Aflutter” bedding from Land of Nod and ran with the butterfly theme. I wanted the room to be relaxing, pretty and modern but not over the top girly or baby looking. I think Ansley will be able to grow into this room as she becomes a little lady.

What best describes your decorating style?

Simple and clean. Plus, I love a good bargain.

Please share with us your choice of paint colors, furniture, art, diy tips, etc.

Paint is Sherman Williams “Lime Granita“. The Butterflys on the wall are from ETSY shop owner CuriousCollections. Dresser and Bookshelf  are IKEA (HEMNES style). Rug is a Flokati from IKEA. Glider is Enchanted collection from Walmart. Crib is DaVinci “Anastasia” from Amazon.

What is your favorite item(s) in the room?

My favorite item is the mother goose print above the bookshelf. It was in my husbands nursery when he was a baby.

Is there anything else you would like PN readers to know?

Start on the room early and look for bargains. I feel like our room looks expensive but it wasn’t. For example – everyone is impressed with our really fancy looking glider. They are shocked when I tell them its Walmart. It looks like something you would get at a really expensive baby store for $1000 +

Love the original 3D art from Etsy, and the fact that this room was assembled from affordable places like Walmart and Ikea…looks like a million bucks!

Really nice article. I’m getting a lot of good ideas on how to decorate my baby boy’s room from your blog. I’m leaning towards buying a pink and brown baby bedding nursery set. My due date is February 23rd, so there’s still a little time for me to decide. Hope it’s ok that I share this post on Google Bookmarks?

Question: Do the crib and dresser appear to have the same finish since they are from different companies? Do they appear glossy or matte? Thank you!
