Design Reveal: Dario’s Jungle

babyroom_7

Although I am a “fashion over function” gal in the handbag and shoe department, when it comes to design for the home, practicality is king. I simply want to get the most bang for my buck so when planning for baby’s room it is important to forecast for the years to come. This is just what mom Nensi did when designing her son Dario’s jungle themed nursery. By choosing a central color scheme and adding modern furniture the room took shape. The custom window bench not only provides a focal point but will also make a perfect nook for lots of story time moments beyond the baby stage. I’m sure that was all part of Nensi’s vision for this lovely nursery. Smart cookie!

What was your inspiration for the room?
I was inspired from the bedding collection of gap, jungle theme. so the room has an outdoor feeling, bright and airy.

What best describes your decorating style?
Fresh, clean modern lines. a practical room to grow with.

Please share with us your choice of paint colors, furniture, art, diy tips, etc.
Ikea bookshelves, painted and added details and nobs.
The bedding is Safari by Bab Gap
The cooshee  changer changing pad
All pieces in the room have at least one color in common, that helps blend and connect them all together. I made the curtains and the bench cushions myself. My husband painted the mural and the framed art on the wall. The animal prints are kids art/custom artwork.
There is a fun clock on the wall and we painted a big blue circle on the wall behind the clock, to emphasize and make it more custom to the overall color theme.

What is your favorite item(s) in the room?
The custom bookshelf with the window bench.

Is there anything else you would like PN readers to know?
Having a theme and a color scheme will help a lot in inspiring and connection all the pieces of the room together. each piece have to be practical and useful ideally in more than one way. the design has to able to adapt to the baby’s need, especialy they grow so fast, so having a room that can be used as a nursery then as childs room in within a year is a challenge. thats why i wanted something more fun for my son , that he will be able enjoy and have fun.

This is such a beautiful nursery. The soft pastel colors in the background are perfect for the splashes of color that pop up here and there. I just love the color scheme. A job well done.

I love this room! You did a wonderful job and I especially love the window bench. Are you happy with the Gap bedding? I’m thinking of buying my baby’s bedding from Gap as well and I’m having trouble finding reviews. Thanks!

We have the Mole Bear mirror book, My Finest Friends. We Love it. Those characters are incredible on the wall…we also have the bear rug you used and about the same room colors.

Who painted the mural? I love it. We have big walls like your nursery…it would be so cute.
