To Do list #17. Organize Entry

Like we have always said, Project Nursery only begins with the nursery and extends throughout the entire family home! So what does a parent do with all the kid stuff that walks through the door daily and spreads all over the home? Here’s a little inspiration from a real room compliments of Olivia’s Mom and Dad:

Olivia’s submission really got me thinking about how to best redecorate and organize my wanna-be mud room? (It happens to be #17 on the to do list, hence the post title). Unfortunately in California, mud rooms are pretty much non-existent. So in California speak, I am referring to the space between my garage entry and kitchen! Here are a few fun, inspiring ideas I uncovered during my hunt…

A traditional place for shoes and things a la Target! Entryway Collection Distressed White.

LL BEAN Home provides a cottage feel with their lockers – Who knew they have some nice, affordable furniture?

The handy and contemporary Ikea Estetisk Writing/Magnetic Board. It doesn’t get any better for $29.99.

Make your key storage cool with the Quadrat wall mounted key rack (but most importantly find your keys for timely carpool pickups!)

And my modern favorite. Use a true piece of fun, modern art entitled “Big Clip” (part of a collection designed by students from the Royal College of Art UK in 1999) as a quick art drop off, magazine rack or hook to hang!

What do you use in your mudroom, hallway or entryway to store your family’s items?

We are lucky to have a large laundry room in our house, however it is definitely on my to-do list! I have been looking for some sort of cabinets, shoe racks, etc. I do have hooks already for purses, jackets etc, but there is definitely room for a piece of furniture of some sort for storage. Thanks for the tips!

This woman is a genius! I love how she used clothes pins to hang the art work! And the message on the board is wonderful! I’m sure her children have a wonderful home in which they are able to give thanks and be themselves! Kudos to the great and resourceful moms of the world!

I never even thought about using the mudroom as a place to display the kid’s artwork…but I am going to now! Thanks for the inspiration!
