Roses are red, violets are blue, we LOVE this “Heart Day” party and hope you do too! Valentine’s Day is one of our favorite holidays and the perfect opportunity to show some extra LOVE to your little ones by throwing them a sweet celebration. Today we’re sharing some simple Valentine’s Day party tips and ideas you can use at home or in the classroom to make your heart day extra special.
Our party philosophy is to keep things clean, classic and simple, and we want everyone to be able to replicate the look, regardless of styling abilities or craftiness. When planning the party décor for any celebration, we recommend choosing one main focal area (usually the dessert table) where you can bring the party theme and color scheme to life. This peach, light pink, dark pink and white palette is such a sweet twist on the traditional Valentine red and white and gives the party a fresh, creamsicle-like feel.
We started by creating this super easy and whimsical heart balloon backdrop. Simply inflate the balloons (with air, not helium) making sure to inflate them to the same approximate size. Then use a small piece of rolled tape and adhere to the wall in rows. We alternated between light pink and dark pink for contrast, but you can do it in any size, color or pattern. It’s an inexpensive way to make a big impact!
In front of the heart balloon backdrop, we strung a “Happy Valentine’s Day” bunting banner, and in front of the dessert table, we layered tissue tassel and circle garlands. We also tied heart balloons to each child’s chair and placed some on the ground for fun. Balloons are such a festive and inexpensive way to decorate, and they just scream “PARTY!”
A conversation heart cake, “XO” cookies, cupcakes and candy to take home as a party favor are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. For the cake, simply frost it white and stick on rows of the large sized conversation hearts. Dress up white frosted cupcakes with pink polka dot wrappers and flag sticker toppers. So easy!
Sugar cookies are always a staple at our parties. They help carry out the theme and are popular with guests of all ages. They’re also the perfect take-home favor when wrapped in cellophane and tied with ribbon (yay to no plastic toy favor bags!).
During the party, little sweethearts can make and exchange handmade valentines, go on a Valentine Scavenger Hunt, play fun party games and fill up on treats at this extra lovely celebration.
