Hold onto Summer as Long as You Can!

Our biggest commodity is time, and it moves so fast! I swear May and June seem like they were just last week! Somehow it’s already August. What? I’ve only been to the beach twice this summer, and I’m still pasty. Seriously, summer is so fleeting. I wait for it, and just as I get into its mellow groove, sipping spiked lemonade and listening to The Beach Boys—POOF!—the calendar and advertising world say, “Summer is over!”

I’m already seeing depressing back-to-school ads and Christmas in summer sales, but I’m saying NO! I’ve been giving all of that a huge side eye and remembering it is still August! Still! So join me, hold onto the sunshine as long as you can and consider some of my summer-inspired nursery picks that will give you that summertime feeling twelve months a year!

A small element like the felt rainbow garland below adds a juicy pop of color, reminding me of gumballs or summertime popsicles. I’d love to see this mixed into a black and white space.

Since it is summer, you might want to put on some shades. This folksy little sunglasses wooden teether depicts my personal favorite classic sunglasses, the Ray-Ban Wayfarer! Let your baby teethe in style—everyone looks good in shades!

Okay, so now that your shades are on, let’s give you some sunshine! A well-chosen new paint color can make a space, and the Project Nursery team took a lot of the guesswork out of the color picking game. This Sunshine Yellow paint color is the perfect creamy tone that walks the line between soft and statement—it’s a visual breath of sunny summer air!

Cradle your baby in warmth with this super cute sunshine colored crib! Thematically speaking, gray spaces and graphic black and white themes are both on trend. One way to break away from the pack is to include a piece of furniture that adds a pop. This yellow crib in a gray or black and white space would sing, adding personality and a sunny punch!

It’s all about the accents, and this anchor pouf will keep you from floating away, all while adding a graphic nautical element to the space. It’s the perfect place to rest your tootsies and dream about the ocean and next summer.
