PLUSH Show Recap Part II: Dessert Table

A true Project Nursery exhibit would not be complete without fully showcasing what we are all about and that includes beautiful party inspiration! While we have “nursery” in our name, team PN has a love for baby showers, 1st birthdays and more.   Our Rebecca Propes of Fresh Chick Design Studio was tasked with coming up with sweet paper printables and a simple modern design to compliment our “Alouette” crib inspired nursery exhibit at PLUSH. We think she knocked it out of the park!

I personally had a blast working closely with Rebecca pulling together all the details. Between our tandem Michael’s and Target runs (me in Burbank, CA and she in Gilbert, AZ), really anything is possible when comes to decorating your own dessert tables at home. You see, the beauty about Project Nursery is that we show parents how they too can create standout designs. And as in real life, we’re often met with challenges along the way! Things started to get crazy when my cakes went missing on a Saturday night, the evening before the event.  There were to be two cakes and I thought I was very clear with the order placed in person, well in advance.  My local baker finally found one cake.  I freaked and then Pam had to talk me off of the ledge. The poor flustered clerk proceeded to mar my perfectly buttercreamed cake in an effort to find a big enough box.  Let’s just say, I came home with a cake in a bucket! I’d post a hilarious picture but it would make this blog of gorgeous images from Tara Rochelle Photography look bad. Shortly after, vases shattered in transit, florists misplaced my credit card and the moss I bought made my car smell really bad.  But you know what? It always works out in the end! Remember that.  All of us at Project Nursery came together as a group with candy, cookies, flowers, paper, scissors, tape and a pink pashmina early Sunday morning. While our initial design plan changed at the last minute, we rolled with it and used the talent of some seriously awesome bakers below…

Stacy of Scrumptious Swirls created delicate pink fondant flowers which really cheered us up and the lone 3-layer raspberry cake. We received some really lovely comments from PLUSH attendees.

Sugar cookies are a must for any sweets table and The Cookie Jar is one of the best in the biz. Lisa hand decorated both our logos. The cookies shipped from across the country and arrived in perfect condition. They also happened to be perfect tasting too!

Pie pops are maybe the cutest things I have ever seen. Once we saw them online, we knew we had to have them. Owner Andrea of Cakewalk Desserts blew us away.  They look just as amazing in person and we’re hoping we start to see a new trend here!

Of course we couldn’t let Andrea and baking assistant Jill not share their famous cake pop treats with us as well. Elegantly decorated cake pops in honey lavender flavor and lemon poppy took center stage on our table.

All this sweetness was to be washed down by classic bottles of milk (aka Starbucks Frappuccino bottles)!

More PetitNest logo cookies comforted visitors by the popular pink couch and a whopping 42lbs of candy, beautiful apothecary jars plus paper tags made the entire set complete!
