I wanted to create a nursery that was cozy and original, and that had a “highland” feel to it with lots of wood and warmth :). I stayed away from any themed room that was purchased as a whole. Each item of my nursery I found independently and unrelated to each other. It was a very long process for me to be honest! I can really get obsessed with decor haha! :) I created my color palette and from there I started seeking and custom-making magical things that could reflect that warm adventurer emotion of the mountain life: a woodland subject without being too literal in regards to the figures used. It is centered around the fox (I really inspired everything on the fox basket), nevertheless there is basically only one toy that is literally a fox. I always loved seamless patterns, so the wall decals have that sense of hand-drawn, same with the linens. Many things were created on Etsy with my own color palette (mobile, wall decor, macrame, planters, etc). I also wanted to stay away from the typical light baby blues or greens, so I incorporated contrast and vividness. I also added tribal, southwestern and boho textures and patterns through the stool, the rug, etc.
This was all created for my new baby, Daan. He seems very happy in this environment and interested about what is around him. Every day he discovers something new! A plant, a bear, a sign, a book. Life should be like that: humbly curious and eager to learn about what surrounds us! :) I hope you enjoy it!
