Stone’s Nursery

Description

We live in a rental unit in a condo building in Chicago.  Space is limited and I could not make any major changes to the room because we are renting.  We have 2 bedrooms so this room was our guest room/home office so I had the challenge of transforming it into our nursery/home office/guest room!

Design Inspiration

I love gray and thought it was a good neutral to keep on the wall.  I was inspired by chevron, gray/white, fun patterns, and the color teal/turquoise!  When you enter our condo, it is the first room you see so I wanted it to be fun, but not scream BABY :)

Decorating Style

Clean, organized, fun with pops of color and/or patterns!

Project Details

Keep in mind we are renting this condo and converted it from our office/guest room to the nursery so the desk w/shelves http://www.containerstore.com/shop/elfaSale/bestSellingSolutions/officeSpaces?productId=10029317&N=77773 had to stay :)  I knew this condo was a temporary home so did not go all out but tried to make it fun and colorful.... The zebra rug is from Overstock.com and is perfect for spit-up and dogs, the dresser is from Craigslist.com (I wanted to find an old piece of furniture and fix it up - but even better I found someone who already did just that and it was painted in the perfect color), I framed my baby shower invitation (frame is from Michael's), curtains are from 20DaisyStreet shop on etsy.com, bedding and changing pad cover are from babybedding.com, and the wall color is Glidden Pebble Gray from Lowe's.  The crib is from Pottery Barn, the black and white mirror is an old purchase from Target, I made the painting (used acrylic paints with a high gloss on a wrapped canvas, the small mirror above the changing table is an antique that used to be above husband's changing table when he was a baby (I spray painted the frame), the quilt was made by my mother-in-law, the fabric and paper banners were decorations from my baby shower (my sister ordered from etsy.com), the framed tree with guests' fingerprints and signatures is from the baby shower, yellow and white baskets are from The Land of Nod http://www.landofnod.com/medium-zig-zag-strapping-basket/f11619, and I let my husband add a couple things... the Johnny Cash Folsom Prison Album Cover and Pearl Jam Special Edition Poster!  Overall, I think we made this a cool baby boy's nursery for a small rental.

Favorite Items

The teal dresser.

Advice

Make an inspiration board so you can see everything before committing.  Do not be afraid to mix colors and patterns!

Lovely nursery, with good play of patterns and accent colors.
