Robin, the Boy Wonder! 4th Birthday

Description

I created this birthday party with my sons favorite superhero in mind, Robin the boy wonder. There aren't many items out there with this theme, since Batman is the more popular of the characters, so it was quite difficult. I had to design and create most of the decor myself for that reason.

Design Inspiration

I used Robin's costume as the inspiration. His colors of red, yellow, green and black were used throughout the party. I added black and white chevron to the party for a modern touch.

Decorating Style

I wanted a modern feel but still adding classic Robin with the centerpieces.

Project Details

The table scape: I used classic images of Robin to create the centerpieces. I made signs for each saying "Nate, the Boy Wonder" (my sons name). Paint wood boxes black and yellow, then adding chevron ribbon or yellow glitter on others. I laid a chevron print table runner for the kids table. Each plate setting had clear plates with images of Robin that I added to the bottom. Plastic milk bottles with chevron print straws and Robin logos I made for each. Also had custom wood forks made to match the theme.

Favor table: I made a super favors sign for the backdrop of this table, with a chevron print backing. The favor boxes had labels that I created, made to look like Robins costume. I laid out black eye masks and a cape rack as well. I spray painted and glued tiny spinning tops to the top of small clear bottles, that I filled with bubbles. Making them look like birdarangs.

The dessert table: I wanted all my sons favorites! I made sour belt skewers and made black eye masks to adorn the boxes I put them in. Donut holes in clear cups, seal with red chevron washi tape. Had Popcornopolis, green licorice, gumball tubes, cupcakes with cupcake wrappers I made and chocolate covered oreos in red, yellow and green. Roni's Sugar creations made cookies with the letter "N" to look like Robins logo. The awesome cake was made by my good friend Silvia Morales of Silvia's Cake Creations. I created the chevron and "Nate, the Boy Wonder" backdrop for the table.

To fit in with the theme, I had custom hair accessories made for my daughters and myself by Pink Laundry Events and 3 Little Pigs Boutique. I had a custom cape made for the birthday by Frogs, Snails & Puppy Dog Tails, as well as a shirt from Tini Posh

Favorite Items

My favorite element of the party were the favor boxes.

So glad you did this. I haven’t been able to find any references for a Robin party, and of course my son prefers Robin over Batman. Where did you find your gumball tubes?

[…] Robin, the Boy Wonder! 4th Birthday by Jeannette Rivas Melisa, of Project Nursery, says, “Since I have two boys who have gone through the superhero craze, I so appreciate when I see how other moms execute this classic boy theme. I just love how that black and white chevron on the sign and table runner stands out against the bright, primary colors. What boy wouldn’t feel like a superhero at this party?” Click Here for More Photos and Details […]
