Pink and Gold 1st Birthday Party

Description

A chic pink and gold first birthday party using light pink, gold, black and white.

Design Inspiration

A striped smash cake I saw on Pinterest. I had it recreated for the party.

Decorating Style

I usually love neutrals. But since this was a little girl's birthday party, I loved adding the pink and gold in there for a girly touch.

Project Details

I don't usually attempt DIY projects because I get really disappointed when they don't come out as I had hoped. But for this party I did make a few of the decorations including the fringed backdrop behind the table and the tassel garland strung along the window. I also made my own cake pops (which I can't believe I pulled off) and party favors (pink "1" lollipops).

My mother-in-law made the "happy birthday" banner for me.

Betnie Bakes did the smash cake.

I ordered the invitations from Paperwork Envy via Etsy.

The monthly photo banner is from Confetti Momma via Etsy.

Photos were taken by Momma's Gonna Snap Photography.

Favorite Items

My favorite items in this party are definitely the smash cake and cake pops. I also love the way the fringed backdrop looked behind the food table.

Advice

Definitely start planning early. Because I didn't have to rush to get this party together, it made it very enjoyable to plan. I spent lots of time on Pinterest and doing Google searches for things I wanted. Etsy is also a great place to buy party decor, because you can typically have something custom made if you need to.

We hired a photographer to take pictures of this party. I won't do this for every one of my children's parties, but I am glad I did it for the first, and will do it again for my next child's first. I highly recommend it because I know I would have totally forgotten to take any pictures. Had I not hired a photographer, I would have at least designated someone who knows what they are doing to take pictures during the party!

How did you do the backdrop? :)
