Penny’s Orange and Teal Modern Nursery

Description

A bold, orange and teal modern nursery for our baby girl. Bright colors provide a cheerful atmosphere for adults and baby. Plenty of storage and seating make it functional for the long hours parents will spend in the space.

Design Inspiration

The first item purchased for the nursery was the bright orange rocker-reciiner. From there, we chose a teal color to paint the dresser, and everything else fell in to place.

Decorating Style

We wanted our nursery to be modern, clean, bold, bright, and cheerful.

Favorite Items

The chair was our inspiration and is a great place to relax with the baby. A lot of the gliders out there seemed flimsy and boring, so we splurged on this piece that we can keep using for a long time.

It was important that we have a spot to grab a quick nap with baby as well as room for out of town guests, so we found a day bed that folds out to a full sized bed.

Advice

Vintage and thrift stores can be a great source of inspiration and furniture pieces. After visiting 10 or so furniture stores, we finally found the right couch for us at a store that sells off furniture from hotels (which are under constant pressure to stay current).

Don't be afraid of colors. So many nurseries we saw are monochrome white or grey. Having two bright main colors gives us a lot of flexibility to mix and match.
